Once human is a survival looter shooter similar to The Division or Destiny with some hints of Rust. Having a great time, game is very fun, has loads of potential. It has a bit of a learning curve on the amount of systems but after you get used to em you're fine. The Pokemon style stuff that's happening lately is great and revives that want for collecting stupid cool/cute things. Gun play is pretty nice, needs a bit of refinement but its there.

To the silly folk who are scared of spyware. Your data can be bought for 5$ and you probably have signed up to far more intrusive things *cough* Google. Read up on whats going on with it, they mostly track in game things like battle pass purchasing or installs/uninstalls. Considering the issues with Unity and that controversy its no wonder they track installs/uninstalls. https://test-steamproxy.haloskins.io/app/2139460/discussions/0/4410795727366389843/

What I think/Preface
Larian studios is honestly the best choice to create a more modern style DnD game. I have played the Baldur’s Gate series for about 20 years. It has been a fan favorite of mine and when I played Divinity Original Sin 2 I was floored that a company could make a game that good. Now that company is making the next game in a series I have loved forever? Awesome. For this review I will try to update it as I continue playing different options and such out. If you see: *SPOILER* and have not played through id skip over that point.

Overall Gameplay
The overall gameplay currently reminds me a lot of Divinity Original Sin 2 with some nice and nostalgic touches of Baldur's Gate 2. It’s like a sexy hybrid that wants me to play both. But it really feels like I'm playing DnD 5e, which is amazing considering I wish I could play DnD everyday. I am hoping that Larian plans to bring in other books content, remaining subclasses, racial archetypes and so on. Honestly I'll give 'em the excuse to make some DLC based if that's what it'll take to have a full virtual tabletop experience of 5e like I know they can. The graphics so far are nice, but needs some work. It has loads of replayability, doing certain encounters I spent a few saves doing the encounter different ways, seeing which one I really liked(most of the time ended in killing a lot of goblins and such but hey I tried).

What Did I choose
This will serve as a point to issues as well as what I did. I went with a Ranger Half-elf. Maybe sounds lame or basic but IRL I’ve played everything but a Ranger so I wanted to give it a shot(insert dad joke laugh). After acquiring all the story based characters I had quickly noticed that… Well my character didn't fit in the party. This sadly kinda hurt muh immersion. I powered through and decided to just make the party work with Ranger (me), Cleric (Shadow), Warlock(Wyll), and finally Fighter(Lae’Zel). I just wish there were more companions to choose from or at least let me play a companion instead of making my own. Honestly I felt like I shoulda played a Paladin, or just a Fighter to replace Lae’Zel. Minus my issues with party cohesion and dealing with inner party approval and disapproval I have enjoyed the game. I’m kinda in between a Chaotic neutral/Chaotic good kinda style atm. Typically though I feel the need to appeal to Wyll as he seems the only actual developed companion in my group. I like him more than Gale but still want Gale in the party to replace the super edge lords.

Issues I noticed
I’m gonna do this in detailed bullets to not only let new early access guys know but in hopes to let Larian know some of these issues I noticed that may not have been brought up.

- Level ups on portraits in the bottom left are right where the accept button is. This is not necessarily an issue but more a quality of life thing. I would suggest that the accept button be moved or the portraits. Now if there is a way or setting that lets me move the portraits then ignore this.

- When roaming around the alt key that shows lootable bodies only shows that but I believe it should also show lootable boxes and chests. This is a quality of life and would be nice to see lootable things while running around.

-Weird graphical bugs that make the characters look like they are stretching across the screen.

-When NPC’s or characters are frightened during combat the turns sometimes stay on the character for a very long time. It's not a constant thing but as an example the issue happens a lot on *SPOILER* the goblin attack where you meet Wyll for the first time.

-During talking scenes there are a lot of times where the NPC or main characters don't actually move their mouths when speaking. The eyes and facial expressions come through but the mouth stays sealed.

-GLARING long rest camp bugs. There's a bunch of em, honestly too many to count. Issues with characters not actually laying down on the sleeping bags, cut scenes are constantly ended or skipped through without even touching a key, and so on. The camp, as small and whatever this issue I bring up may be, is the part where a lot of the story for individual characters happens. *SPOILERS* such as Astarion biting you, Shadowheart tinkering with her box, talking with volo after saving him, and so on. It's an important part. Also as a possible idea maybe allow us to customise the camp some? It's silly but some people would probably be pretty into that, myself included.

-Another camp issue to bring up is that you can literally cheese a long rest anywhere you want. Basically phase out of the area you’re in and just pop back in after a long rest. It isn't necessarily a bug but more or less an exploitive thing. Maybe increase the amount of short rests you can take but make it so you have to portal to your camp.

-A Lot of T-posing happens during conversations between main and non main characters.
Bunch of sound issues where certain cutscenes as well as actions through the game make no sound.

-Clunky camera mechanics at times while indoors.

-Multi-classing, never got the option even though I met pre reqs. Probably not added atm just wanted to point it out.

Tl;dr
Game is a diamond, being developed by a gem of a company. Has a nostalgic feel of DnD, Baldur’s gate, and Divinity. Needs more companions for party diversity as well as more developed companions to help offset the edge lords in the group. Has glaring issues that need to be addressed, graphical errors, misc bugs, and so on. Can't wait to see more and hope my recommendations are taken into consideration.

Space Hulk: Deathwing Gameplay Review

Cost:
So I bought the game as pre order a couple days before launch. The initial cost was relatively cheap for a new title game which I and as most gamers, a big fan of cheaper games. Originally the game costs 39.99 but got a nice deal of 15% off the cost. Cheaper games are always better personally as I have never liked spending 59.99 on a game that may or may not be terrible.

Lore of the game:
For those of you who have never played, read, or even heard of the warhammer 40k series a little misc info here for you so you can understand the premise of the game.

What is Warhammer 40k?
Essentially it's a grim and dark setting in a science future fantasy world to be put simply.

Who are the Space Marines?
THE GOD EMPEROR WILLS IT, they are future crusaders essentially. They are organized by chapters and there is roughly around a 1000 chapters. Battle hardened and ruthless these marines produced by the imperium of man are incredible. They are the most feared and elite troops to walk.

What is a Space Hulk?
Well a Space Hulk is a conglomeration of lost and wrecked ships that fuse together into one massive ship. They generally just drift around through space in and out of warp and eventually combining into one titan of a ship.

What is a Librarian?
To put it simply, you are a psyker. Coupled with powerful terminator armor and amazing psychic abilities you are the abomination spawned by the emperor to help your chapter brethren gain all the glory you can. But in most cases you are hated by the brethren and looked on as a mutant.

What is a Genestealer?
A unique type of tyranid. I personally don't know much about them but i know that they are kind of aliens of aliens.

Graphics:
  • Character Models-
  • Environment-
  • Uniqueness-
Sound:
  • Voices-
  • Weapons-
  • Movement-
Playability:
  • Control Smoothness- The controls seem about as smooth as you can get them to be considering your a dude walking around in ancient terminator armor. But the controls are simple and to the point.
  • Replayability- I see a chance that this game has so much replayability. Even after all the problems i've had to deal with so far I still find myself wanting to play the game but not wanting to get further disappointed with the crashes.
  • Single Player- Singleplayer just seems boring and uneventful. I just dont think theres enough in single player to make me want to play it, especially since i can complete the campaign with friends.
  • Multiplayer- Incredibly exciting to run around with your friends. Multiplayer is literally the only way this game should be played.

Story:

Pros:

Cons:
  • The biggest con so far is that the game randomly just dies. As fun as the game is there's just too many early game problems that hopefully will get worked out in the future.
  • One major con so far is the clunkiness of movement. Giving the game the benefit of the doubt though since you are a space marine librarian and the armor you wear is obscenely big and bulky. It just seems they could have made movement a little smoother even being a space marine.
  • Another Con I have noticed is the lack of GPS or direction for your missions. A little blip is on your screen to direct you where to go but not necessarily how to get there. But unless you are the party leader you can't see it. Which in a way can be cool because then you have an actual leader of the group, but still can be frustrating for others.
  • The poor optimization of the game is also a pretty big deal for this game. Changing settings doesn't really seem to help me at all with fixing a lot of the errors.
  • FPS jumps from time to time.
  • Gun sounds are pretty uninspiring. Seems kind of generic.
  • Problem with long range hacking. Sometimes you can hack and sometimes you just can't.
Games initial playout (SPOILERS):

First few days-
So my first steps into the space hulk were pretty interesting. I decided that I wanted to try the librarian for my first time going into the game and after going through the tutorial I kinda liked the psyker powers. So me and a friend partied up with 2 pubs and went on our merry way. Swarms of tyranids all around us, some used guns and rocket launchers while others were trying desperately to claw my face off. As I rushed around with my team and started heading towards the little blip on my map I started to notice…(game crash)

So my first steps into the space hulk were pretty ok. I decided that being a librarian is lame and I wanted to be a melee guy. So I decided to arm myself with awesome lightning claws. After screaming FOR THE IMPERIUM over and over and blah blah blah I found that it was incredibly exciting to rip and claw my way through tyranids. After reaching the squad blip on my map to try and help some other brethren I got to see my squad completely... (game crash)

So my first steps…(game crash)

Weeks in-

Completion (if applicable)-

Conclusion
i plan to play the game a little more before giving my final thoughts. this game should probably be waited on a little at least for the first patch. ill update this review as i play the game more. Updated 12/16/16

This game is probably one of the best games i have ever played off the steam market. i give this game a 9/10 mainly because of the no explore feature not in this game. i was thinking this game wouldve been a little more like GTA but it is not. its mainly a lobby game where you group up with other heisters and you take a heist or job and with 4 people including yourself you try to complete said job. its a great game with loads of potential and there is a ton of fun to be had. i reccomend this game 10 times if i could.

Early Access Review
even though its still young and has LOADS of kinks and problems to work out and get a detailed tutorial the game is kinda enjoyable. once you finally figure out how to do things on your own your pretty much set to go. good game and theres fun to be had.

Edit: originally i liked this game when it was released. but now i decided that after 4 years of this game not even getting out of early access ive decided to say i would not reccomend this game. the developers are lazy and have not fixed a damn thing on this game. if it ever gets outa early access which i doubt this may actually be a fun game. till then do not buy this. do not even bother playing this.
