Somehow never played it until 2024, but the game hides its age fantastically. The art style keeps it looking great even today. The gameplay is fun and engaging, the gunplay is some of the most enjoyable I've felt in shooters in the last decade. Fairly short, but everything from the gameplay, story and ambiance in general is incredibly pleasing.

Definitely worth checking out!

Did you love the first two games? Then save yourself the bother and skip this.

It misses on everything that made Max Payne fun: the wonderful noir setting, fun satisfying gunplay and the charm. Even Max doesn't feel like Max but like a generic GTA5 character.

This is just a cover-based gallery shooter with a constant stream of Max's inside monologue that just gets grating. You're interrupted with cutscenes every few minutes. There is no freedom at all: walk through a door? Congratulations, it's locked behind you, enjoy the current narrow corridor of doom. You don't even have to walk through a door to get locked out, maybe you've just strayed too close to the part of the room that just auto-advances you without giving you any freedom. The enemies are bullet sponges unless you go for the head, the weapons all feel the same, and bullet time feels like crap compared to the first two. Bullet dodges mean you end up on the ground and geriatric Max takes ages to get up leaving you dead most of the time.

Using painkillers is mostly pointless since dying just resets you to the end of the previous tedious cutscene with your health back.

At least the game looks quite good, when it's not barfing the baffling glitch graphics style they've decided to force upon you, so you feel like having a stroke just to get it over with.

Very few games manage to capture the look and feel of an already established setting, as this does for the galaxy far, far away. Even two decades later, I vividly remember the sheer magnitude this game was for me when I first played it. From the various imperial installations, the sprawling Nar Shaddaa, revisiting movie locations we all love, the game just feels properly placed in the universe.

Time may not have been overly kind to the level of detail or the muddy feeling of textures of the time, but despite that, the story, the feeling and the gameplay don't feel any older than they did when it was brand new.

A must play for any Star Wars fan!

It is the best of games, it is the worst of games. There hasn't be a game in recent years that is equally likely to make you swear at the screen and idiotic teammates, as it is to make you smile and laugh when stuff goes well. I guarantee every game will produce emotion, even if some of those are better left unfelt. Just don't punish the hardware you're playing on, it's not to blame.

And the first couple dozen games you play, you will hate it. And your team will hate you. And you'll be told to delete dota and kill yourself. And because you're persistent and don't take crap from random morons on the internet, you will ignore them and get better at the game purely out of spite. It's a great game. Let the other player's hatered fuel your desire to improve, and you will get better.

Dont buy this. I mean it. The game is brilliant. Fighting mechanics work great, the graphics are awesome even today and it runs on old crapy machines such as mine while looking pretty damn neat. And it's immersive. Want quests? There's loads of them. Want to roam randomly and ejoy the sights? Go for it, just make sure you don't get raped by that bear behind you.

Don't get it, tho, because it'll consume your life. That "just one more dungeon" will mean you're still playing it at 4 AM. The amount of side quests are gonna drive your OCD brain nuts because I can't leave that marker there, I just can't!

Save yourself. Especially now with the Workshop and other mods, the game just gets better and better. There is no escape...
