holy crap.

NPC got stuck behind a scripted gate, now it cant reach the emperor -> reload.
Exited sewers, crashed.
Modded my game now as well, so I dont know how much of it is my fault.
So all in all, absolute nostalgia already.

Basically what they did is they glued their engine with UE5.

Upside is mods are coming back real fast, because the back-end is still the good old oblivion engine.
It can look amazing as well.

Downside, for many of us, its crashing so often.
generally it seems to run a bit better for people with older machines, as higher settings are causing crashes at the moment.
It seems to be connected to UE5 related stuff. VRAM, Lighting, Scaling and many other things can be adjusted to reduce the crashing, but no total cures yet.
I am under the impression it seems to run a bit better for people with AMD cards right now.

Currently, at least for me, it crashes almost every time I enter a door/gate towards the open world.

Only downside which comes to mind is getting stuck here and there.

Aside from that, its one of the most entertaining FPS I've ever played and I've been playing longer than steam exists.
Combat is fun and versatile, Puzzles are cool, story is entertaining, world is interesting and the music tends to surprise you out of nowhere when it absolutely slaps.

People downvoting this for gameplay reasons are out of their mind.

great game if you hate every animal aside from cats

+ hunting (spear throwing rocks)
+ eat/drink/sleep/breathe
+ weather hazard
+ dangerous fauna
+ mining
+ cool building damage model
+ roguelite missions with unlockables

- lazy ore lumps lying around like in WoW
- characters look disgustingly disfigured. completely pointless as well due to helmets
- base design always ugly
- co-op sometimes buggy (invisible players, people see fire when there is nothing)

Got this game cause I noticed an old acquaintance of mine who was into similar RTS like me had almost 1000 hours in it.
First it didnt look like much.
But then, advancing throug the campaign, I now absolutely see it.
We got
- a fast paced hunt for limited resources
- ever more challenging missions
- pick your fights, weighing invested resources(ants) against the plunder (anything that moves or grows)
- a fight over resource nodes, supply lines, 'cattle'
- entertaining narration and "story" bits
and much more

currently 17 hours in and completely hooked

My girl convinced me to get it, glad she did. its great fun together.

Steam asked me for an update, so here you go.

Its basically a well concealed, pretty casino.
You might not know this developer, but you'll know NetEase, which it is a branch of. NetEase made Diablo Immortal.

tl;dr:
+ decent graphics
+ very basic crafting system
+ interesting world

- you'll reach endgame in about two weeks. after that its just grinding for meaningless stuff and some story events.
- zero support. Lost material you collected from day 1 to an obvious bug? Too bad, you can use the ingame support (you'll never receive an answer) or the discord one (you'll get only bot answers, and if you keep on going for days, at some point you'll get someone to tell you, there is no support)
- exploitative hooks to get to people prone to spending addiction and, worst of all, predatory gacha mechanics
- no Y axis mouse inversion (intentionally removed after beta)
- filled to the brink with daily tasks, login rewards, discount events and whatnot, like those casino-owned mobile games

Is it playable without spending a cent? yea.
Should you play it, if you are vulnerable to gambling hooks&addiction in the slightest? absolutely not.

Look. I get they got to make a profit in some way. But you can do it like warframe and similar, or you can do it like those mobile games, which are designed to turn every player into a 'whale' for butchering, throwing 'hooks' at you at every corner, trying to sneak a gambling addiction on to you by utilizing psychological research findings to get you on the hook. Companies like these have been caught bragging about this. Companies like these (NetEase) are seeing you, the gamer, as prey and you need to be aware of that.

It looks harmless at first, but things will come gradually.
The intro quest slowly progresses over to opening and hinting at their shop, where you'll have the full glory of an online casino's butcher-set. Consumables and cosmetics for yourself, your gear, your buildings and so on.
Naturally, you'll quickly find the classics, like your daily login reward, event rewards, daily tasks and different forms of ingame-currency.
One of those can of course be bought with real cash for up to 99€. But of course, the 'hook' will go as low as 0.99€. Later on you'll be introduced with the final, most vile form of currently still legal exploitation of the gaming community, the gacha system.

The gacha system is the real issue here. This is the actuall dealbreaker for people vulnerable to gabling. This is a gamified slot-machine and here its not just cosmetics, here you can get the really good stuff. you'll interact with it every day and it'll constantly give you the "just one more" feeling.

Its an absolute shame china didn't go through with forbidding gambling mechanics in videogames.

If you think you can resist the constant hooks being thrown at you and still enjoy the game, go on. But otherwise, dont play it and remember, friends don't invite friends to play such games, if they are prone to be exploited by such predatory mechanics.

I wish more games were like this!
