An incredibly beautiful and humbling experience with a story told in bits and pieces left by others, in places only those curious and driven enough would dare to explore. A solar system crafted to be chaotic and gorgeous, uncontrollable but comfortable enough to call home. A story that places you face-to-face with the concept of the inevitability of the end. My only complaint is that there is no voice acting, I felt like it kept me from truly appreciating the other Hearthians by the end of the game when it was most impactful to have loved them and your star-system.
Also activated auto-pilot just when I launched and got dragged across the home planet and into the sun, great game 9/10

Don't buy it now, as good as the game is EA decided to shut down their online services for it so none of the payed-for DLC can work! If you want to play through it now I'd reccoment slogging through the first one just to get here so your choices actually have an affect. I really despise this company and how they force players to have to use back-ends to fix their games.

Absolutely one of the best examples of combing different things that normally wouldn't go together but sorta work: Puzzles, Strategy and Sex Appeal.

The puzzles have to do with using the different items you have in the environment you're given, typically in ways to get around enemies that desperately want to kill you, but are ulutinately predictable. Yet still there's a sense of panic if you don't press the button at the right moment or act too fast and can't turn back before your untimely death. I find myself turning every corner slowly and checking for enemies that might notice and run at me without warning, and that's frightening!

Otherwise there's platforming, and it's not quite as bad as I thought it'd be with the camera angles. Haydee can jump pretty far and if you make sure to remember what she is- a cyborg top half that takes no damage when gripping ledges and a human loser half that can't take long falls then you'll be perfectly fine throughout, so long as you plan ahead. Planning ahead is the most essential part of this game, exploration and experimentation.

As for the design, it works for me, makes the game even more entertaining watching her anti-gravity bosom shake around like she's an anime character.

Early Access Review
Absolutely brilliant! And even more love for putting it on steam rather than just software!

So after 1.0 all I can say is there's been a drastic change. The first is that crafting is still a focal point, but building is a secondary, very fun thing that is possible within the game.

Starting out there are tons of things you can do, build shelter, kill for meat, explore caverns, farm food, and much more for those starting. There's also been a shift from having to dig to the center of the planet to proceed to having to explore the caverns around the starting world, which I believe better introduces players to the exploration and mining aspect of the game.

It's much more story-oriented and forward-driving than the previous builds and has more to do with primary missions, but it's like the priorities split apart so much it gives a feeling of overwhelming options, and the new need to scan items to proceed is...sub-par. I enjoy learning more, but I don't really enjoy it being mandatory to continue with the story.

The lack of options when customizing your characters is also rather baffling to me considering how easy it'd be to simply expand the choices of hair or clothing starting out, but that's more of a nitpick.

What isn't is the frame-rate lag, the god-aweful frame rate lag! I had to go into my .config file to turn of vsync and other unnecessary options that created a terrible amount of lag with floating items and enemies, and even after there was still quite a bit of enemies randomly stopping in mid attack only to lag back to life seconds later. This game *seriously* needs optimization!

Regardless, the combat is fun and challenging, the different racial personalities are fun and the only thing I believe is missing that I'd (personally) love is more lore into the universe.

It's nice for a small indie title...but it needs work.
