Before anything else let me say just one thing:
Do yourself a big favour and do NOT waste your time on ANY spoilers for Undertale. Instead, play the game just like any other RPG before and get astonished by the possibilities you have after finishing the game once. Your second playthrough will play out way different from the first one (almost like a new game) and it will have so much more (emotional) impact on you, instead of getting spoiled and play Undertale the "better way" immediately on your first run. It's hard to describe without using key words, they would spoil the game too much.
That's what I think at least. So, on to the review.

Replayability: [MEDIUM TO HIGH]
- If you're not getting spoiled, two runs are the least you will need, probably more though.
- Also, there's an alternative ending to reach, with two new bosses to fight.

New or rare game mechanics: [YES]
- no spoilers here, so let me call it simply "Determination"
- bullet hell mechanics when you get attacked by the enemy, implented in a RPG game
- you can talk yourself out of fights
- personality of your main character can be chosen and it matters a lot

Personal opinion:
[The story of the game is interesting albeit not phenomenal. However the overall presentation of Undertale (how the story unfolds, characters, their interactions with each other, the ending, interplay of locations/boss battles and background music, ...) is way above the average treatment a game gets nowadays. Going into the game unspoiled (which I HIGHLY recommend, the revelations you experience at certain parts of the game can differ from imaginative to mind blowing) can become one of your best gaming experiences. Can, but maybe not. Who knows.

Graphics are a two sided medal. While the character sprites look certainly...not good, the backgrounds and many locations of Undertales world can range from "okay" to "beautiful".

Same goes for the gameplay. At its core Undertale's gameplay is as simplistic as a JRPG-like game can get. But then, on the other hand fights use a bullet hell mechanic, where you have to avoid the enemies attacks Touhou-style. In a RPG this is unheard of (as far as I know) and, as I think, a really well done implentation.

On to the sound...now here I really think there can't be two opinions. You might not like the game itself and I'm fine with that but the soundtrack is...the best gaming soundtrack I can think of and a MUST HAVE in everyone's top ten gaming soundtracks of all time. Each boss has their own tune, location songs are memorable and overall it feels nostalgic, even at the time when you listen to a song for the very first time. It's magical.
To everyone who begs to differ because of the 8bit/16bit era sound quality (an argument I can understand) I'd like to direct them to the soundtrack's make over album "Determination" by Richaaeb and Ace Waters or insaneintherain's jazzy "Live at Grillby's" album...or simply browse through Youtube, there are so many well done, enhanced or remastered Undertale songs to find, I can't count them all.

One last thing I'd like to point and which is often blurted out (either as troll or as serious opinion) but far from true: This game is not Earthbound...or Mother, not even close. (which wouldn't be a bad thing either obviously)
Yes, it does take its' inspirations from it, you can see them here and there, mainly the quirky humour. But that's about where the similarities end.
As a game, Undertale stands at its' own feet with its' own fresh ideas and calling it a rip off is downright unfair to all the work Toby Fox has put into it.]

- 10€/$ for the content you get is more than justified.

Game length: [6-12 hours]
- 4-6 for the first run, another 4-6 for the second and about 2 hours for the alternative third ending.

This turned out way longer than usual but the game deserves it. And a 95% positive rating of 80.000+ in total speaks for itself.
