The DLC that I would recommend getting immediately with the main game enhances the biodiversity of the aquatic ecosystems across the base maps. By introducing sixteen new species, this expansion brings a higher level of ecological realism and variety to each location, making the angling experience more dynamic and rewarding. The only downside, in my opinion, is the fact that this DLC is not included in the base game.

A beautiful map with plenty of exotic fish, including piranhas, giant arapaimas, and several types of catfish, whose capture represents probably the greatest challenge here. The mysterious Amazon basin is winding, with many locations to move between, as well as numerous moored boats. However, the optimization could be better. The increased amount of vegetation likely contributes to higher hardware requirements.

An excelent DLC that includes two maps: one on the coast of Iceland and another in the North Atlantic. This DLC also introduces trolling as a fishing method. It's particularly useful for catching larger fish species like sharks or halibuts. If you're looking to reach higher levels (16+), this DLC is almost essential to the base game, as the large marlins, which usually provide a lot of XP, tend to snap lines in the ocean off Panama at lower levels, whereas you can reel in 300-kilogram halibut here.

Brutal. Deep. Riveting. Must play for those who want to immerse themselves into a vast and meticulously built world of a slow-burning text RPG. 9/10

Interesting idea on paper - tedious gameplay in reality.

Very unforgiving, but still one of the best platformers ever.

This game isn’t just about fishing; it’s primarily about exploration. As players progress, they can encounter procedurally generated fish in procedurally generated lakes, which keeps the sense of mystery alive—there’s always something new and intriguing to discover. While the game is relatively simple, it excels at what it sets out to do.

Unplayable on a standard notebook with a 1920x1080 resolution. The fonts are so small that they strain your eyes. According to the Matrix forum, you need to edit the ini file, which is a) difficult and undocumented, b) ineffective in some cases because certain texts will overflow their frames, and c) completely unacceptable for a professional game, especially one sold on Steam. If this issue is fixed in the future, I’ll happily change my recommendation, as the game is otherwise very good.

So, I have played several scenarios (not just the tutorials, as some people who recommended this game did) and this is not a good game. As mentioned elsewhere, the WEGO turns are too long and unpredictable, making it difficult to develop a cohesive plan. Additionally, it’s a logistical nightmare to regroup my formations without losing contact with the commander. Why isn’t there an automatic regroup tool? On top of that, after some time, the sea becomes a chaotic mess with collided and immobilized ships, and it’s just not fun to navigate the remaining vessels in this scrapyard. And by the way, the Battle of Artemisium is the most ridiculous scenario I have ever played in a wargame. The player has to just sit and wait for 18 turns (!!!) for the slowly approaching Persians. Why, just why?!
