A bit overlooked - at least I feel like it - but really great, polished and very cinematic tower defense experience.

In a nutshell:
You play as the aliens invading earth to syphon out the energy of this planet. Of course humans don't like that so they attack you with armies of tanks, troops, aircrafts...etc.
And this is where you have to build towers, path blocking (in most cases) laser fences and fly into the battle yourself to protect the core at each level.

Now how this translate to the gameplay? Perfectly.

Most of the levels are cities and you can destroy buildings to make them block the road. You can blow up bridges, clear out trees and basically cause absolute mayhem while spanning your high tech laser / flame / rocket / plasma towers all over the map, not even speaking of the laser fences, all of which looks really great thanks to the nice artstyle and visuals.

The experience is really smooth and combines tower defense and bullet-hell in a great way. You have to navigate your little vessel / aircraft and attack the enemies yourself - if you want - while placing and upgrading the towers.

With all the visuals, destruction and good SFX design the experience is greatly cinematic and doesn't feel blocky in spite of the grid based tower placement.

You have upgrades for your towers, your aircraft and your core, both defensive and offensive and support abilites. Just the right amount to keep you upgrading tho I could have used 1-2 extra upgrades for the DLCs.

But what about everything else?

The game takes about 20 hours to beat with all the DLCs assuming you play on normal difficulty and you wanna beat the game once.

Throughout the levels you have your commander speaking, sometimes narrating the events with a nice, alien, robotic voice. Sometimes there are even some fun lines / dialogues.

You can also hear the communication between the humans since you are evesdropping their commander - they don't know that tho. I think the voice acting is great.

Cutscenes involved simpler sceenes, don't expect Blizzard level 3D rendered "movies" between levels, more like flip-flop animations with a good artstyle fitting the game. The game doesn't have interactive dialogues so you'll only listen to the events.

The DLCs are good but felt a bit like "work" after playing through the base game. I think additional upgrades or at least one new type of tower per DLC would have been great. They say in the comments that the new boss fights and enemy types are bad but I disagree, I think they only add to the experience and makes you think more about your tactics.

Bear in mind that I only played at normal difficulty so I don't know about the balance when you change it to something else..

I think I only encountered one type of bug where you clicked the tower to form a laser fence with another...and nothing happened. This usually occured when I was already through a failed attempt - because it would have blocked all paths for enemies. In this case you have to remove the tower and place it again.

The game doesn't rushes you between waves. You can take your time to think and place your towers however you cannot start the next waves earlier - I think this is due to the fact that there are narrations and events between waves and rushing them would break the storytelling / order of events / story logic.

All in all I would say this game is at least a 8/10, maybe even 9/10 but due to the burnout phase you can experience while playing the DLCs it can get a bit hard to finish and not feel like "I should go next game already".

Kingdom Rush: Unga-bunga Edition

Jokes aside, I think this game is different enough to deserve it's own place, Battlecruiser Games did a really good job here.

You can read in other comments that "ui is bad" but I don't agree. Yes, it's almost "text free", full of unga-bunga pictograms but I think one can wrap their head around it pretty quickly and it makes it more immersive since this is a cave-men themed TD.

This is a tower-only game so you don't have heroes, on the other hand you have tons of upgrades you can buy with skill points after each level more or less customizing your playstyle to your own taste. You like blocking roads and focusing damage? You can upgrade your road blocking spikes.

You want to focus attack speed? There are tons of upgrades for those too, just like damage, unlockable levels for different types of towers, even ultimate abilities.

The enemies, towers and levels fit together nicely but instead of writing a short story here, let's see a pro / cons:

PRO:
- Great thematical and humourous art.
- Cutscenes drawn in style for the game.
- Just enough variety of towers so you have to think how to place them yet it doesn't get too hard.
- Lots of different types of enemies
- Lots of upgrades
- Enough level to keep you occupied for about 9-10 hours even if you do only 1 playthrough.
- You can place towers anywhere where it doesn't collide with obstacles, roads...
- It's more or less a balanced experience on normal difficulty - assuming the "second difficulty" is considered the normal one
- Great music

CONS:
- ...but sometimes it's really hard to tell how much space left, can you place another one?
- Map readability is ofthen not that great. Exactly what paths enemies will follow? Sometimes it seems ambigious until you start the level and see it in action.
- The skill points are a bit sparse, at least on the first playthrough and you cannot reset skill upgrades one-by-one, if you reset, you have to pick all of them again. It would have been great if you could right-click bought upgrades to reverse them.
- Difficulty spikes. In most cases it's pretty smooth but each level is LONG. This can be good or bad...but I think some levels could have been shorter and this way more levels could have been included with lower wave counts.

BOTH:
- You cannot destroy / replace towers. This makes you think more about tower placement but at the same time there are cases where I think you can make the end of the level MUCH HARDER by not placing the towers at the best place and I had those "I wish I could replace some of these" moments.
- Felt like there are too much "tower blocking / stunning" effects at the last levels. This made it more challenging but also it was annoying, especially the part where you had to click like crazy - this specific thing only applies to one level.

BUGS:
- Main menu felt like it's lagging when going to the level selection screen
- Sometimes when I got enough food to buy another keeper tower, the UI slot for that tower stuck in a ui animation loop for a short while
- On the level where you have to quickly click near the towers sometimes the clickable part was active but the graphics remained as it is not
- One time the SFX muted itself. I played with a different pair of earbuds. Later I checked the menu and it was set like I muted it manually. Strange... I just set the volume back to normal and it solved it, didn't occur after that - tho I didn't played with those earbuds again.

If you like Terraria and you always wanted it to have a story and without focusing only on beating stronger and stronger bossfights and you liked to explore other worlds...basically a game that's much-much bigger or just like similar games in general then this game is for you.

The combat system is a bit more complex with having secondary attack modes for some weapons and you have an energy bar, so you can't spam infinite bullets in go.
You can be hungry, so you have to eat / drink. Some food can give you special buffs so cooking is basically making potions...sort of, in some cases. - You can also craft medi kits, health regen boosters...

You have a whole universe of planets. And how you proceeding to the ones with more extreme atmoshpere, the difficulty is going up and you must have better gear. - You can hide your armor and backwear with putting anything else into the corresponding vanity slots, just like in Terraria.

You can have colonies on any type of planet and your colonist will pay you from time to time. One small negative aspect is you have to put colony deeds on the walls in the rooms - it's basically the same as marking a room in Terraria for an NPC except it's an item here that takes up place... On the other hand, a lightsource and door is enough - yes, you can't separate rooms with platforms - so you don't have to put bed, table... in every room you want to use for expanding the crew of colony NPC-s.

You can have a crew in your shop and you can take TWO of them to the planets, leaving the others on the ship. You must extend your ship from time to time to be able to have more crew members on board.

Pros:
+ Nice pixel-art graphic
+ LOTS OF blocks and decorations for building
+ Lots of biomes, minibiomes...
+ Minidungeons on some planets
+ Villages for other playable - and some micro village for non-playable - civilizations on planets
+ Various types of planets
+ Story quests
+ Space, ship, space station - you can even have your own - exploring some abandoned station...
+ Nice modding community with some really neat, huge, actively developed mods like "Frackin' Universe".

Cons:
- Difficulty is "spiky" sometimes. Early on when you accept quests in villages, the fighting can be really challenging.
- NPC-s ALWAYS close the doors behing them...and you always have to open it again with E, which needs a bit of a timing when you are running through a village.
- Sometimes the game doesn't detect perfectly what you'd like to interact with.

The first DK game I've played was Manhattan Project long ago. I liked it. Last year I've played DK 3D and now finally DKF.

As someone who wasn't following the notorious, 15 years of development of this game I played it without big expectations and hype.

Overall, the game doesn't deserve the hate it gets, altough it's definetely not the best game I've ever played...far...far from it.

The biggest problem is maybe the unbalancement. And not difficulty wise but gameplaywise. There is a section with car driving and the game makes you do it for 4-5 levels, occasionally stopping to get some fuel...drive, fuel, repeat...it's just tedious after the first 2 level and the controls of the vehicle is like a parody.

There is the famous shrinking beam which makes you the size of an action figure. The previous game, DK 3D had some short sections with it...here...it's just way too much.

All of these goofy parts could work but not at this rate, interrupting the shooting sections way too long.

There are puzzles. They are not hard or anything...they are just there. No pro or con.

Enemies have some variety, although you can't expect the number of different types you would see eg. in DK 3D.

Bossfights are the typical "shoot until the HP bar goes down, then tap one button like a maniac then repeat" stuff with only one exception late game.

Your HP (EGO) follows the trendy "auto refill" mechanic but you can execute sometimes low HP enemies and gives you a bit of a boost.
Most of the jokes doesn't feel funny, it's like they are forced a bit and desperately trying to give a more "Duke Nukem" like feeling to the game.

In spite of these, I still recommend it, because it can be a fun one time playthrough.

Pro
+ It's not too long. A relaxed weekend and you can play it from start to finish.
+ Has it's moments.
+ References to previous games.
+ Average gameplay, still enjoyable.

Con
- Gameplay is not balanced
- Jokes, humour doesn't always gives the right feeling

Beautifully drawn, quite fun point & click adventure.

The puzzles can be a bit tedious sometimes, I could say there are 2-3 puzzles that can make you feel desperate, maybe even look into an online guide but that's all...so you don't have to worry, it's not a moonlogic fueled adventure. The other puzzles fits the game perfectly and it's world (the 2-3 bad ones too, actually).

It's not a long adventure, I finished it before hitting 3 hour of gameplay, so you can from start to finish on a free afternoon.

+/-

+ Hand drawn graphics.
+ Music.
+ Strongly fairy tale like story with some nice twists.
+ Almost all of the puzzles are quite nice...

- ...but a few that's not so good. You may have to "click-hunt" objects.

I play only a few multiplayer centered games, and this one is one of those I can imagine playing maybe in years from now and after that.

The devs are still updating this game constantly through the years...
And the game is still balanced and fun in terms of gameplay and characters.

Of course you can team up randomly with players with much more experience and "competitive" skills than you...but anyway, it's still fun to play with friends or sometimes alone when you are in the mood.

It's even better than Arkham Asylum!

I know a lot would be arguing with me about this, but I think this game is better than the first one...here is why:

1. In Akrham Asylum, I just feel "caustrophobe" with the amount of techniques that would make a good open world "city roaming" game, but there? The biggest space you got is some big backyards. I felt it a waste of oppurtinity. BUT! That game was needed and yes I liked that part a lot as well, but it was a "preparation" for this in my opinion.

2. The story was short and it didn't give much oppurtunity for other characters to join. Now...I don't wanna spoiler, but Batman is not the only one who you control though the game, furthermore, the "from building to building" mechanics are more or less unique for each character which was a big bonus for me.

3. Skyline. Arkham City is beautiful in it's own grim way. I play the game on low settings...still, I like what I see.

4. Improved battle. Somehow I feel like the fighting is listening to my input more.

5. Improved updgrades. It's much more like an RPG (no, it's not a true rpg, but has elements), there are gadgeds you only get for challenge, therefore it's up to you if you get them.

Overall, if you like the firts one, try this one out too!

I never played Smash Bros, but it seemed like Smash Bros and it's free.

+ unique legends that are not from other games or comic, ...etc (except crossover legends, but they are basically skins for old legends)
+ big movement freedom in air
+ not dead, fresh updates are always coming
+ multiple weapon types, usable gadgets like the grenade
+ cross play with playstation, switch, xbox, steam
+ "moddable" maps - they can be reskinned and they are some beautiful works out there if you got bored with the basic textures
+ clans

- only one music per stage
- could there be more maps
