A cute game for DBD references, but that's about all the charm this game has. Of course you can't expect it to have the depth of Until Dawn or the Quarry, but there are a vast amount of negatives as opposed to the slim amount of positives to the game.

For example:
- No character depth to Frank Stone, he doesn't say a single word in the entire game, nor do you learn why he's doing what he's doing OR anything about his past
- Character relationships have no effect on gameplay whereas they do in any other supermassive game
- Choices are either incredibly obvious (a- he lives, b- he dies) or have little to no meaning
- You have to replay areas to get all collectables - there is no way to collect all 3 sets of items in just one playthrough.
- The first 8 chapters virtually nothing happens, the last 6 stuff does happen but barely
- There's inconsistencies within the main story - someones parent dying in the 80's surely would mean that person would no longer exist in the 2020's?

That isn't to mention various gameplay bugs that force you to restart chapters, UNSKIPPABLE CUTSCENES, and the fact that they didn't even release the .exe for the game for nearly an hour after it supposedly released.

There's so much more to touch on but I'll leave it for now so its relatively spoiler free, but for £30+ (£40 for Deluxe) you're much better off buying the Quarry, Until Dawn or any of the Dark Pictures Anthology.

I could sit and write for hours about this game and how wonderful it is; the cinematics are gorgeous, the lore is amazing. The amount of detail into tiny little things that not everyone will notice like the ability to find notes to Baldurian residents or the attention to detail in storylines. There are many games out there that do it well, but none like this. The character development of some of the more evil characters is coupled only by the vast and intricate personal lives of each of the NPC's. I've never wanted to replay a game like this before; there are so many different routes to follow and even nearly 250 hours into the game with two fully complete campaigns I'm still seeing new dialogues or different interactions.

Bravo, Larian, for creating a spectacular game. ♥
