Fun little incrimental game. Short and sweet, just enough gameplay to make it fun but not a slog in any sense. :)

The game has a great vibe, the music is an immaculate match for the setting of the game. The progression is fun and just gets bonkers towards the end, just a bit sad it was over so quickly! Worth it just for the chill vibe if nothing else, totally a game you could sit down and just play for a few minutes and walk away in the zone.

Bugs:
Does not work with 32:9 aspect ratio, it becomes super zoomed in.
Audio issues, constantly stuttering and background music keeps stopping.
when the action gets wild, it makes everything go silent.

Gameplay:
On the positive, the melee combat is fairly fun when your able to see your enemy.
On the negative, I was having issues with the FOV being so zoomed in that I could not see anything else around me but whats right in front.

The armor mechanic is fairly punishing, and the contested health system seems to push everyone to run a melta if they can. Overall it felt kinda stifling for weapon pick with melta out shining everything else so much. You already feel it barely a few hours into playing.

I regret not refunding this immediately when it felt bad to play. Now I am stuck with this 60$ game I cannot play until they fix 32:9 being zoomed in.

Played the game during early access, and it was already fairly impressive. Got a taste for the early game, and the D&D mechanics. Waiting for the full release was really difficult, I wanted to play so bad. It was really addictive to make different characters and figure out cool interactions.

On full release, I was completely blown away by how immense of a game it was. The pacing of content out in the world was fantastic. You were constantly finding things to interact with, and the world felt thought out to the last detail. The set design and backgrounds in all the locations are gorgeous. The voice acting throughout every NPC interaction is also stunning. For a role playing experience its just amazing.

To only speak of the stellar game-play without the mention of its handful of bugs would be disingenuous, so I have to make mention that the first release version of the game had some comical bugs. Strange and outlandish model movement and things being loaded in view, then snapping into position. Whatever it was, those things seem to be fixed for the most part in my latest playthrough. Then the issue with crashes to desktop. That seems to be mostly resolved, although I had about 3 crashes during my last full playthrough. They keep fixing and fine tuning the game. The speed that things are fixed is a breakneck pace as well, they are truly showing what its like to have investment in follow through beyond the games release.

So how can I wrap this up? This game is like getting as close to perfect without being absolutely perfect. And they keep making it better with each update so far.

Early Access Review
Being in an unfinished state, I am only critical of the systems that are present. The itemization in the game is fantastic, and has a well suited filter to clean up the drops you do not want to see. That being said, the filter menu could be greatly improved by allowing to duplicate entries. (such as affix lists, for different coloring/highlight for combinations of tiers of the same affixes)

Itemization and crafting are pretty fun in this game.

The static layouts of the maps are not though. After loading into the exact same location multiple times in a row you will see what I mean. The layouts must be randomized in some way or its just boring after some time to see the same scenery in the same way, with the same paths etc. Especially when first loading in, its like a groundhogs day feeling to come back to the same place in another "timeline" which is identical.

I played through with a rogue marksman, so my time was fast and I zipped around the map. Viewing streams of more melee builds you see they are getting more in the mix with each pack. There is a bit of disparity in the raw clear speed of some builds just depending on the range of the attacks. But, this is an issue for nearly all ARPG games.

Controller support natively is the biggest thing drawing me to the game though, and its working decently even before the 8.3 patch. I have high hopes that they continue to work on improvements to it, so you are required to use the mouse cursor to select things less. Such as being able to start the game with a controller instead of a click.
