Game's the total package; good character variety (and IMO balance, even if some characters definitely need some love), the netcode is best-in-class even compared to more recent releases, and I haven't even touched World Tour yet have only really heard good things about it for those looking to get more single-player experience out of their purchase.

Big player base + rollback netcode will carry any game

Game had a pretty rough release but I'd say it's now worth the price tag (or at least waiting until a not-too-uncommon sale). Netcode can be rough and outside of story mode there isn't much single-player content, but a very good entry point for people looking to get into fighting games between the easier execution and helpful community.
