IT'S FUN!!!
if you're an expert from other marble rollers like marble it up, monkey ball, etc... it might be a little easy, and a little short. it took me a little over an hour to clear all the content, but i'm a VERY skilled veteran player in the marble game genre.
but if not, give it a whirl! was worth the price, if you ask me.

It's a little bit easy, on account of the very broken charge mechanic - but despite that, it's still a fun, charming experience that is easily worth the pricetag. Hope the devs work on it a little bit more to refine the mechanics, because I'd love to come back when I have a reason to navigate the level design instead of blasting over all the pits and going directly to the goal.

It does what I need it to do, and does it well.

Heard nothing but praise for this for the longest time. I've been holding out on buying it, since I'm not super big on singleplayer games, let alone platformers.

I'm happy to say that this is one of my favourite games of all time, now. Wonderful aesthetics and music already put this game high, but the combination of the gameplay and the story are master class. I connected with the controls very quickly, and the game did a terrific job of introducing me to each new mechanic without being overbearing.

I beat the game, but the strawberry pie I made was awfully dull. I'm looking forward to playing the extra content that I missed, and making a much better pie!

Early Access Review
Until the game is in a more complete state, I would not recommend this game.

There is a strong lack of consistent theming, with some mismatched and confusing / questionable assets. The environments feel either completely empty, or as if they were built out of storebought pieces.

The level design is very spotty - pretty decent at best, but quite frustrating at worst. Ideally, as you introduce new mechanics, you want to continue to mix and match them throughout the game, but this game is very 'one and done' in that nature; in a particular world, a mechanic is introduced, you get piledrived by 10 consecutive stages using it to various extents, and then it's never seen again. This can be disappointing in some cases, or in others (the ice world..) a bit of a relief.

Not to mention, the numerous cases of 'GOTCHA!' where an expectation is built up and then broken down (i.e. a fake bridge start to bait the player into jumping to their doom), or an obstacle simply isn't clearly communicated before hitting the player (i.e. a bumper placed cheekily in front of the goal behind a ramp). Not necessarily all bad, especially considering the lack of any real tangible penalty for death. To some players, these are funny! But ultimately, still unfair, and not something I'd like to see.

World 1 suffers from some visibility issues, as the tall grass is incredibly dark and tends to obscure details.
World 4's use of the background in some of the stages is very unusual, and many of the world 4 stages are rather lacking in direction, making it easy to get confused as to where exactly you're supposed to go.

Overall, there is a drastic lack of content. If you're even somewhat skilled with Super Monkey Ball, or other marble games, you may find yourself having blown through all the stages in just a few short hours. Unless you're grinding for 1st on the leaderboards, there isn't much value in replaying the levels.

Moving on from all that, there are lots of nice things I'd like to say about the game.

The controls are quite good, though the camera is completely unresponsive to upward or downward movement, which can be disorienting from time to time. The nature of the camera following ball movement and very small deadzones, means you can quite precisely control the ball. A skilled player can navigate a wire a quarter the width of their ball without issue.

Building on that, a high degree of air maneuverability makes lots of cool stunts possible, even without a jump button.

The sound design is quite relaxing - I'm happy to leave game sound on, and maybe even the music, as opposed to muting it and listening to my own playlist.

Though I don't like many of the levels, most are quite memorable, with standout gimmicks that separate them in a unique way from the rest.

Many of the unique mechanics introduced are very interesting - I especially am fond of the dynamic between growing your ball with snow and melting the snow with the fire (though I spent an embarrassing amount of time thinking that I had to hit the fire to melt the snow, instead of just sitting by it...)

OVERALL: I'd recommend waiting until it comes out of early access before purchasing. At that time, I'll go over the game again, and change my review as necessary.
