Early Access Review
risk of rain 2 but anime.

very very similar. this game is a bit stripped down since its in early access ofc. if you didnt vibe with risk of rain or maybe it was too hard for you or you didnt like the characters then play this. the most unique part will be the art style and character selection plus their abilities being pretty fun. i got this game in a fanatical bundle going on as of 5/9/2025 so i got this plus two other games for $10. pretty good deal :P

oddly satisfying. a lot of people say its super "in-depth" for an idle game. maybe it is in the very late game, but as of right now it really isnt. maybe because its not the conventional "spend points to earn more points" when this game is "spend points to earn points faster, faster" which sounds the same, but its not lol. iykyk

the game does not run very good and thats my main complaint. and ontop of that it feels rather unstable. even when the game would lock at 170fps which is my monitors highest refresh rate, the game would still feel laggy especially in the camera movements. the controls feel clunky, sensitivity cannot be changed on an axis basis and is just a basic 1-10 scale along with the music and sfx. theres no option to change the voice volume which there is a little bit of including the moment you click new game. it was loud asf and i wasnt expecting it.
the game is not visually impressive but from what i have read the game was made by two people which can explain why the game doesnt run the best or look the best. the music is pretty solid, i dont know if it came from a non copywrite free use site or if its original and if it is it gives off heavy zelda vibes which seems to be a big insperation based on the graphics and overall vibe of the game.
the story seems to be a basic "defeat this evil guy and save the girl plot" which is fine seeing as this is being made by two devs who probably just wanted to get their foot in the door with a game.
the combat is super easy and boring. it comes off as a souls like with how you can level at campfires but you also level up through just combat like a normal arpg/ajrpg.
while i dont recommend the game as i write this review i will say i think itll be a good learning experience for the devs and i hope they do improve upon their skills in game making, optimization, unique ideas, and overall become better creators and dont just falter/flat line in progress and get stuck in there ways like yandere dev did with his solo project.
i got this game for free after buying some games on fanatical and wanted to try it on my steam deck but in the end tried it on my 3070ti desktop which forced its way thru the bad optimization lol.
maybe in a year or two i'll be able to change my review. but until then just i'd avoid this game unless ur really into indie and can get the game on the cheap.

only problem i have with this game is how easy it is. its like the division mixed with remnant but all enemies take like two shots to kill

this game looks and feels like a high quality mobile game. i cant help but wonder when the "upgrade your weapon with materials" comes into play or when itll show me the shop screen. it never happens, but it feels like it should lol. ik thats just cus the game is a bit old but yk.

gunplay doesnt really have any sort of push or feedback to it. like i feel a little satisfied popping enemies with taps of the trigger no matter the gun. but that also leaves every single gun feeling like a single shot and not an automatic like most of them are. i had one gun with an acog scope and i swear i used it for half my playtime and only towards the end of the first level did i realize it was an automatic rifle.
the story in concept is prob the strongest part of the game. the idea that south and north korea combine into one nation and start to take over every country in its path. basically a ww2 like scenario with the nazi germany but now its more modern day with some extra high tech flair in the mix.
the game options dont have a lot going on. i maxed out the graphics and was pushing 200+fps. the controls setting is the real let down. for me anyways, since aiming down sight is toggle and cant be changed to hold sadly. it apparently had controller support but i havent personally tried it myself. i might try and play this on my deck tho if it rly does have working controller support. i got this game for free and ik u can get it dirt cheap. the campaign seems to be short with less than 10 missions i think. if u can get this game for like $5 USD or less then yes its worth it for a cod like game with an interesting concept but with very mediocre gameplay.

story alone this game is worth the buy. its essentially a well done tv show with a mid to high range budget. some things that you do may not seem like they add to the bigger picture but in the end they do. some insignificant things add context that you really wont know matters until the climax of whatever chapter/arc youre on.

in terms of graphics, its a pretty good looking title. from the looks of it i think it uses TSR. i played the game at max settings, 1440p with motion blur off. the game looked great, and despite the tsr it doesnt kill the image for me. if anything i feel it adds to the colorful time period of the 1930s. or at least as colorful as its normally represented in games and movies

the soundtrack is good, i do wish there some more licensed songs with vocals in it though to really put you in the right mindset sometimes. as you progress through the game if you listen to the radio station with talking you can hear about world events like hitler, and stuff in your city like the crime, or elections, sports, etc.

the gameplay is just fine. it can feel clunky but it isnt exactly the easier either. sometimes it feels like its up to chance when taking your shots but rly its about patience and your overall aim. it has difficulty options and aim assist tweaking if you just want to experience the story. i played all of the game through on the default medium difficulty and switched it to easy on the very last level. not because it was hard, but because it was stressing me out lol. the cop chases range from way too easy, to way too hard. sometimes you will get screwed on some missions because of the chase missions because the game will want you to run away and prevent roadblocks but doesnt tell you that you have to go through a roadblock to actually escape. i had one bug which thankfully wasnt a hardlock for my save. after beating a mission and transtioning into a new cutscene, the cutscene played and then the game told me i died. i reloaded the checkpoint and it put me through the cutscene again. after skipping it it all worked out so no biggie in the end. one more thing is the open world feels shoe horned in. if anything this game is a linear game with an open world attached to it that youre allowed to explore if you want to. its more or less just a simple sandbox and theres collectibles if ur into that. maybe if it had a playboy equivalent like mafia 3 i would have done that, but nope :))

overall i highly recommend the game if you like the time period/mafia anything. even if you dont game you should play this if anything mafia sounds fun to you. just lower the difficulty, and crank up that aim assist and youre in for a really good mafia story worth experiencing i got this game in a bundle awhile back, humble and fanatical tend to pack this one in some times and the sales arent too bad either. highly recommend!

its fun at first but eventually loses its charm. maybe it got better late game? but other reviews who stated they got that far didnt give that impression. some of the mini games are fun and they pay off for doing them while also doing time management since theres laundry u gotta do inbetween. some of the games can be frustrating tho and not being any good at them means you wont be able to complete the game goals which make the machine more popular meaning youll get more money to get more games. other than that its a good game to turn ur brain off to.

in my nearly 20 years of gaming THIS is the longest game i have ever beaten. it wasnt easy, and at some times felt quite draining. im writing this right off after saving my completed game to an empty save slot.

this game isnt perfect, but its damn close to it. and the thing that makes it imperfect for me, is oddly enough a part the game does really well, but you have to do it for all nearly 100 hours (on average) gameplay and that thing is... playing the game. the combat felt really good for me up to about the 40 hour mark. did the gameplay become boring? maybe. but im leaning more towards the story shot the gameplay in the foot. i became so enthralled with the story that i wanted to just skip the gameplay and only experience the story. the story had so many twists and had like 6 moments of "oh this is the last moment" and then its not. other than p3r, this is the only game to make me wanna just see more of the story. and this persona game made that feeling more intense than p3r lol.

ontop of flashy, fun gameplay that only becomes boring when the story gets way too good- the OST. to me, i know an OST is a masterpiece or very close to it when i enjoy it as much as i have. every game i have played in my lifetime has had a few songs out of the 15+ OST tracks and not many have had a completely blown me away with its music. the last game to do it was Medal of Honor Frontline on the ps2 and i played that when i was like 5 years old. the soundtrack to this game is just ridiculous. even when i got to what i thought was the final palace of the game.. BOOM. a new crazy a*s song starts up and i go from grueling the next hour of nonstop puzzle solving, battles, and sneaking to completely hyped with the thought that once i finish this palace i'll get the satisfaction of seeing the palace ruler falling apart.

the music, the gameplay, the characters, the character interaction, the voice acting both jp and eng, and the story are some of the best of the genre. this game defines the genre for me as what jrpgs can and should be. i look forward to the next mainline persona game and plan to start strikers at some point.

the post persona depression is with this one. the ending overall isnt what made me sad. but once the credits rolled.. i wont lie. i cried, and you will too.

i paid like $40 and got nearly 100 hours out of it and i skipped a lot of content. didnt do all the social interaction i could have just because i wanted to see what happened next. so i missed at least another 5 hours of content i bet. good luck gamers, you will need it if you play this one.
