Actually pretty good (although I haven't played the new stuff yet).

The demo kinda sucked, back a couple years ago, but then when I played it last year it was really fun with friends.

Wow this game looks amazing.

Unfortunately I get error 1275 and I can't load the game at all.

But It would probably be cool if I ever got to play.

Tis a silly game, but fun. There are absolutely hackers / cheaters sometimes, but generally it's fun to play still.

I don't bother getting wrapped up in the seasons / cosmetics / keys / other crap because I don't care.

After owning this game for 13 years, I can finally give it a positive review.

Not because it's improved over the years (although it has). I've just finally decided to stop being lazy and rate it already.

Seems like a pretty good game so far.

I can't recommend this game.

I gave it a good try, but there's just too many negatives:

1. Inventories are too small, you run out of space very quickly, so you have to trek back to wherever your boxes are. Eventually you unlock bigger backpacks, but most players have quit by this point (judging by achievements).

2. There's a day/night cycle. This doesn't make sense in a cave. You don't get cold at night in a cave. Caves are the same temperature year round, night or day

3. If it's "night time", and you're standing next to a giant forge with glowing hot coals. Guess what, you're still cold. LOL

4. They added a bunch of random wildlife. I mean, I guess it makes the game more interesting, maybe? But why are there so many llamas and goats running around these abandoned caves? Why not, I don't know, normal creatures that might live in caves?

5. Daylight is shining through the ceiling all over the place (not lore accurate at all, but again I guess they wanted a day/night cycle because reasons)

6. Combat feels pretty clunky and not a lot of fun. You eventually unlock better weapons but the weapons break so frequently you have to go repair them and it's really annoying.

7. And again with the day night cycle, certain foods only give you buffs in a narrow window of time (breakfast, lunch, dinner). You can't have breakfast at "first light" (when you wake up from sleep), you have to wait a few minutes until "dawn" which is the stupidest gamedev decision I've ever heard of. Also you can't have certain foods for certain meals, or else you don't get that buff. No steak for breakfast (even though it sounds like the most Dwarf breakfast ever).

8. It just never reached that point where I was like, "Wow this is fun" - it was always "Wow I'm out of space again, now I've gotta haul all this stuff across the map but oh yeah I'm tired because I haven't slept so I can hardly run, and also I don't have any good food in my backpack because I haven't unlocked good food yet" (you can't just take a "starter meal" with you that you cooked over a fire - you have to learn the "oven" which, as we all know, is the only way to cook food that allows you to take a meal to go).

9. If I could refund it, I would. But I played 4 hours so I guess I can't. Womp womp.

I'm a big lord of the rings fan (I've read the books several times and obviously watched the movies), so I'm kinda disappointed I didn't like this game. This game concept and the game the developers wanted to build was two entirely different things. The devs wanted to make an open world crafting game, but the concept is "minecraft, but only the caves, and also you can't destroy most walls, also there's still a day night cycle DON'T ASK WHY". Maybe it just wasn't a good game concept.

It is satisfying.

I played back in early 2021 when it launched, I played in late 2022 when Mistlands came out, and I've played in mid 2024 when Ashlands was released. Haven't made it to Ashlands yet but I just want to say this game is great. I expect the next biome (the last one?) will come in another 18 months or so, at which point I will play again. They usually have a couple mid-sized updates between the biomes, which might also be interesting. An ocean update would be nice!
