I grew up with Resident Evil. I fondly remember being 9 years old playing my friend's older brother's PS1 and trying out his creepy game called Resident Evil 2. Thinking we had started his save file, we played for less than 60 seconds before things got too intense. For years I had proudly told my friends that I got to the part where everything was on fire and you were surrounded by cars and zombies. Little did I know that was the very beginning of the game. Years later I decided to get Code Veronica for my Dreamcast, and my love for that spread to the Dreamcast ports of RE2, RE3, and then the Gamecube releases, and every mainline title ever since.

Resident Evil 2 (2019) isn't a scene-for-scene remake; It is very much a modern third-person shooter/survival horror game that has all the benefits of a AAA title for the current gen, but has a familiar story path and characters with subtle nods to the original game. While I have no issues with games that essentially copy and paste the environment, characters, and story with higher res textures and updated character models, when done correctly I think Capcom's approach here with RE2 2019 is a great way to remake a game.

I bought this game upon release, and true to fashion, didn't play it until just yesterday evening. It is currently 6am and I played Leon's side of the tale non-stop. I am starting Claire's side after I get some sleep and get caught up on work. Bravo, Capcom. Bravo.

I can't stop playing this game. If all you're looking for is Armored Core-levels of mech customization and stomping around in a legit mech-simulator, THIS IS FOR YOU. Don't think of it as anything else other than what it is...a slow, strategic team-based FPS.

F2P turns off most people, but I played for nearly three years (pre-Steam, obv) without spending a cent. Your first 25 matches net you a TON of in-game credits and you have lots of trial mechs of all different types to get a feel of what you want before you spend your credits for it.

There's an amazing community at www.reddit.com/r/OutreachHPG, or /r/OutreachHPG in case my URL gets deleted. Ask your questions, but realize this game punishes newbies and the learning curve is great. BUT, it's SO worth it! Don't jump into a new game expecting to know how to play it and to be an expert, put yourself out of your comfort zone and HELP BRING BACK THE MECHWARRIOR/BATTLEMECH FRANCHISE!
