A great fun sequel to the excellent Fights in Tight Spaces. However, I wish they'd fix a few aspects of the UX:

Playing on Steam Deck, the cards are too small to read.

it's annoyingly fiddly to select a target when the cursor is on the wrong side of the map - why not let me cycle throigh valid targets as with XCom?

Ending turn by pressing Y on the controller is WAY too easy to do accidentally. This needs to be a long press or have some other safety catch.

What a lovely game. Chilled out ant colony automation with lots of neat little touches. Love the style. Love the brain bending automation options. Looking forward to have more time to play more!

- Controller doesn't work in game, only in menus (No Steam Input, seriously??)
- No wide-screen resolution support - seriously 21:9 is pretty common now

Pathetic. Calling this a HD reincarnation is pathetic. And disappointing because the original game is awesome and fondly remembered.

Game is great.

Why is it so hard to start the game with a controller? Why is it lumbered with a horrible launcher that asks me stupid questions that don't work when I'm sat on the couch? Why doesn't cloud save work? Why do EA lumber their games with this awful user stuff that makes me want to never buy their games again? If you can't make a launcher that works reliably with a controller then don't make games. Go away.

I will never give a positive review to a game that isn't easy to launch from my couch with my controller in hand. Indie games can all do it, why not yours?

With a very heavy heart, this is my first negative review for a total war game. And I've played every single one since Shogun.

Sieges are somehow even worse than the last one. Floating icons and magic popup buildings are not a good fit for a supposedly authentic wargame.

"Balance" is a mess. Overpowered steamroller units and army abilities dominate. Playing against a midgame Skaven enemy, for example, is just not fun. Autoresolve gives low casualties while on the battlefield they have doomrockets and many abilities to delete units before the action even starts. So I just autoresolve my way through the campaign.

Timed unit abilities with glowing icons were added to the series in Rome 2 and have always been a stupid idea. Now they're everywhere and remembering to press them is crucial. Yawn.

In summary: Please CA, go back to the focus on tactics and authentic battlefields. Also, you urgently need some optimisation. Loading times are really long, even on high end hardware.

Tactical stealth done right. Xcom meets.. uh.. actually I don't know what. There's nothing quite like Invisible Inc.

Civ remixed with the excellent Endless Legend. Lots of room for improvement via DLC. Not quite a Civ beater yet but an interesting start.

Edit: Steam Family Sharing has been disabled for this title, rendering it unplayable for us. As a result I must reluctantly change my review to negative. Edit2: Seems to be working again.

Lovely chilled out game that gives you the freedom to figure stuff out in your own time or just wander around aimlessly.

No violence or threats of any kind.

I wouldn't recommend this to a serious gamer looking for lots of depth but it's perfect for my 5 year old. There's stuff to read and resources including money to manage.

I wish the button prompts were colour coded to match our xbox controller.

In summary: great for small children or very casual games.
