Icewind Dale probably made a greater impression on my younger self than BG1 and BG2.

Only shooter I’d come back to. While (almost) every other shooter seems very limited to not much but shooting, and thus shooting always feels trivial in shooters, here the music will make the aggression get under your skin by chasing rhythm through shooting.
My gf cried of anxiety trying to play this. She's kinda sensible tho. Still loved it

Most turn based games won't let you take into battle more than 4 or 5 characters. Here you can even take your animals into fights. This might be the main reason why there were times I would prefer playing this over imo overall better RPG titles (BG3, Wasteland 3, Pillars of Eternity 2). Also, professions, camp, crafting, dungeons, being able to make prisoners etc. are great.
After 20 hours tho, it got kinda repetitive and grindy, as Battle Brothers, as Mount and Blade etc. The base game imo needs a better and more immersive story, memorable npcs and quests, deeper classes and a greater variety of gear.

It's a contest of who pays more, an auction game on a daily basis. As an active ftp player, I was allowed to exist and from time to time to abysmally lose battles.
Also it will milk your time. My life got significantly better when I stopped playing VR. Even if you think you're casual, you're casually wasting hours daily. The good friends you made there aren't worth this.

Siege is fixed and everything is much better compared to Warband, except for the grind, which is still there, and the AI, which still very often makes poor decisions, such as declaring war against multiple flanks and thus often losing the upper hand you’ve struggled to achieve. Spending the maximum amount of influence against these decisions won't help, since 90% of the other lords almost always agree with each other. Companions automatically donate all their prisoners when they get to a town or castle, and you can't tell them otherwise. Etc.

Arguably the best indie of 2022.
