worth a play

Badly optimized, with a 3070ti, i get 120 fps raytracing on, then 2 seconds later im down to 20fps, needing to restart the game to fix the issue, mostly happens when i go to towns, my friend has the same issue... I wouldnt say its worth it the 70gbp price tag

Overall i would give the forest a solid 8/10. The game is really fun but i only played it on co-op because i didn't find single-player that much fun, exploring the map with a friend, building rafts and houses in random locations was amazing, getting the chainsaw and deforesting 20 trees in 30 seconds is close to one of the best things in the game, after you get the chainsaw your life will be so much easier. Be sure you explore the map and check the details, you get spots where its better to build and spots where is better to hunt, you will get to know this places quite quickly (especially if you check YouTube and stuff) but i would suggest checking YouTube only if your stuck, otherwise explore by yourself and experience everything first hand instead of following a tutorial. I would say maybe locate the chainsaw cave with YouTube because the chainsaw will help you build so much faster, apart from that i would say just play it yourself and have fun ! Oh, and DEFINITELY drop cannibals bodies into the carts, they fly and its quite fun.
Be prepared to get annoyed by hoards of cannibals just attacking you randomly while your collecting wood :D

With all this being said The Forest really is a must play on the survival genre and it was in my opinion a very good and exciting game :D GGs Devs

Where to start ? Post apocalypse zombie survival game, its an amazing concept and it is very well thought out, i have a few hours in so i believe i can just explain my experience with the game, I'm no expert but i will try my best to give the point of view of a survival genre fan.

The game is very fun, and super challenging on the beginning stages, after you get settled down and have a few weapons and a proper base it gets easier, but i also have never really went past night 50 or so, therefore i cant tell how hard it really gets but my guess is its pretty much the same, the zombies get harder but ur weapons get better and so does your base and stats soooo it kinda balances it out.

Surviving is really fun, lack of food and the endless houses to explore, the trader and vehicles make the game stand out from other survival games making it a really good pick up if your into the survival genre.

Now comes the bad ... The game is Terribly optimized, i dont have a potato pc i have a ryzen 5900x and a gtx 1060 6gb and the game runs like sh*t, i need to have the settings on low to get +60 fps consistently and it has been like this for a few years now so i dont really know if they will or even can optimize the game but if they do it will make it so much better, also the graphics are terrible for a game that runs this poorly in a semi decent machine.

In conclusion i would say 7 days to die is a really great game to play if your into the survival genre but at the current stage on this review it is most definitely not worth the 20$ on steam, i paid 4$ and im happy with this deal, i would say anything up to 10/12$ is a good deal for this game but not more. Hopefully the devs will improve the graphics and performance, if they do then the game will be worth 20$.

ALPHA 20 - AYO ! This is a whole new game, the devs definitely are putting in work, right now i think this game is worth the 20$, i've been playing 2 days none stop. Keep going devs !

2022 UPDATE - Got an rtx 3070ti upgrade and still get around 80fps with medium settings, DEVS please optimize the game, the graphics are better but still terrible to play on this framerate, expecially after a few hours going to warzone and getting 144fps max settings.

One of the best singleplayer games, and the first story related game i completed since GTA 5 came out, really great game and all streamed at twitch.tv/xdeaz (lil plug :D )
i got the game in steam summer sales but it is definitely worth the full price guys
