I bought the app mostly for old games for my kid (games like Happyland Adventures and all the games by Humongous Entertainment - they don't make games like that anymore). It also works great on newer games like Koala Kids and FTL, that run in windowed mode. I have to say they all look much better when Lossless Scaling app does its magic.

I noticed at least one negative review saying this program isn't good, because it affects performance of Cyberpunk 2077. Lossless Scaling lets you upscale windowed games to full screen, but Cyberpunk 2077 allready runs full screen and upscales by itself. So why use this program for such a game?


ScummVM

Now unlike me, you might not care for games from Humongous Entertainment that run on ScummVM, and are made for preschool children. But the app works nicely with all ScummVM games!

Some examples of ScummVM games that are sold on Steam and can benefit from this app, others you can also find on the ScummVM official site: Beneath a Steel Sky, Broken Sword 2.5, Dreamweb, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Lure of the Temptress, Drascula: The Vampire Strikes Back, Soltys, Sfinx, The Griffon Legend, and Mystery House... they all run full screen and look a little better with this app.

DOSBox

More importantly, I also tested the app with DOSBox, to see if my kid can play a free game called Happyland Adventures, and it also works GREAT! If someone doesn't know, DOSBox is a free and open-source emulator for running DOS video games.

Now you might not care for Happyland Adventures, but this also means that this app can scale countless other old DOS games like Wolfenstein 3D, Original Doom, Original Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, the very first Sid Meier’s Civilization, open-world role-playing game Wasteland, X-COM: UFO Defense, Pool Of Radiance RPG, Star Wars: X-Wing, Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Prince Of Persia, Sim City, Under a Killing Moon, Road & Track Presents The Need for Speed, Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Commander Keen 4: Secret of the Oracle, Death Rally, The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, and countless more. Some are sold on Steam, others you can get on sites like Dosgames and Abandonia.

Steam Remote Play

I also tested the Lossless Scaling app if it works with Steam Remote Play on my TV - IT DOES!

To make it work, first I had to turn the Lossless Scaling app on, then AFTER THAT I started Steam Remote Play on my TV, connected it via Remote Play to the PC, and started the game in BIG PICTURE MODE. The game I tried was for my 3 year old (Putt-Putt and Pep's Balloon-o-Rama). When the game launched I pressed ALT+ENTER to make the game go in windowed mode, then pressed Ctrl+Alt+S - and immediately the Lossless Scaling app scaled the game on my TV screen to look better.

TL;DR: WORTH EVERY PENNY IF YOU PLAY OLD(er) GAMES! ^_^
