Update: actually works on Linux (tested on Fedora 41)! just make sure you have a capable machine with enough VRAM and you're good to go. Actually ran really smoothly on my old rx580 and I had no trouble exploring the game quickstart scenario.

It's of course very basic right now, as far as I can tell not even the storage system is working so you can't test the devices either; it's purely just for creative cosmetic building right now, but that's alright, the unified grid system is a big leap forward in how we can handle blocks of all sizes on one grid, meaning you can actually decorate and fill the hallways of your ship with small things, and don't have a single light take up all the space in a 5x5x5 meter cube.

Consider this positive review my encouragement to further develop and fix the game to a point of it being usable.

I don't actually recommend it right now if you're looking to dive in and play a fully functional game, though, Space Engineers 1 is currently still way more advanced. But I have good hopes based on Space Engineers 1's progress that we'll see the same stuff over here :)

I ended up liking this game more when I made a new game in creative mode.

The days are far too short, and the game is far too grindy in 'survival mode' for my taste. I still spent 10+ hours in creative mode despite being able to cheat any item.

There's a story going on that may not be immediately obvious, and I really liked that aspect of the game as it unfolded more, it's not just randomly generated events, there's a clear endgame goal that you work towards, and along the way of figuring out how to get there you find out a whole lot more than you initially expect from the game.

All in all I can definitely recommend it, but, if it is too slow for you, don't be shy to try the creative mode option to keep it fun.

This one may seem sorta familiar to people who played niche games like SimPark before, it's kind of satisfying in that sense with a bit of nostalgia and a bunch of new stuff to explore.
It's not very extensive yet, but the base of the game is solid and has potential.

Things I like:
- evolutionary algorithms
- neurons and instinct drive movement of limbs
- deep interactions between plants, krill, fish, water movement, and the areas they settle in
- good statistical and historical overviews of plant and animal populations
- good controls over population soft/hard (pred) caps
- lots of tools to e.g edit and export individual customized fish and plants
- long 'tech tree' with a lot of different base species

Things that will need some work:
- Very heavy, doesn't scale across more than 4 cores. Honestly it's fine when a simulation game like this is power hungry, but, if I have a 3900X or 5950X and want to actually put all those cores to work, I just can't if it doesn't scale to that amount of threads.
- Evolution is very crude. Which is to be expected with sim games like this, but, it would be nice if the way new limbs developed or old ones disappeared was more gradual, as well as having actual environmental reasons rather than being from what I can tell, mostly random.
- Some visualization isn't perfect yet. For example it's very hard to see how the water flows around after I set up some streams, it only makes small visuals and I have to remember where I set up my streams if I want to remove them.
- more extreme mutations and abilities would be cool, even if just for the sake of watching things spiral out of control. Right now everything is sorta balanced to find its own balances, and that's not really a bad thing, but it would be cool if there were 'failure scenarios' and that sorta thing :)

hmm, not sure if it's just very buggy under Proton, but things get stuck constantly, they stopped refining, creatures are stuck on top of each other and can't do pathfinding, not very useful in that state. Also cheating past that and unlocking everything kinda shows there isn't that much progression, can do everything in a few hours of gameplay if it weren't for the slow research. That said for it can be fun timewaster, as concept it's kinda cozy, little space colony sim thing, hope it'll get more work put into it.

needs to be developed further, yeet out the crypto part of necessary, the game has incredible potential, it's by far the most advanced VR sandbox game out there, as well as a very advanced sandbox for desktop use; every single tool and interaction you have in the game, can be altered and built upon in the game. Don't like the tools you're holding? give them a different model or texture! don't like the UI? build your own! it's entirely sandbox, with a powerful scripting engine that can do almost anything seemingly.

Honestly it's more genius than you'd initially think, especially for people with AD(H)D and such, but also in general people who like using timers to maximize their efficiency; the concept of using timers to do things is not new and it's shown to work very well when applied correctly, and this game essentially is that in a cozy package with a nice background, some music and background noise sliders.
It's nice to have all these things in one place, so you keep the amount of programs to distract you to a minimum, my only gripe is that you run out of music diversity pretty quickly, and I haven't found any way to change or add music to the game itself.

I had great memories of this game, but a tree fell on my head and it dropped my memory skill so I forgot

Seriously though fix those glitchy lethal trees, nothing more frustrating than accumulating hours worth of grinding lost due to needing to fell some trees for a base camp. It's okay that I have to be careful, but if I'm standing away from the tree and it explodes into my face because it chops in half and one of the pieces glitches through some other nearby object, and that keeps happening, at some point it becomes tiring :v Though I guess that's totally fair for early access!

THAT SAID; holy hell do you get a lot of things for an early access game! It feels very polished and whole, the tutorial/guidance crow is helpful (and precious), there's a looot to do, the story seems complete even though I havent' gotten to the end stages yet, the sound effects and visual details like wood that you chopped aging and coloring different over time, the waves of the sea, the wind and weather effects, all give the game a very lovely mood, and the building is pretty extensive and decent- not perfect, finding a snapping angle on an object that's facing away is basically impossible, and falling off a medium height roof also potentially kills you, but it does work, and getting all your materials back when you remove something is bliss, wish other games did that too.

Basically if you love cosy survival games with a little story you really can't go wrong on this one. It's very complete for an early access game and everyone I spoke with adores the sorta cosy soft relaxing vibe this game has <3

Runs on Linux!
Sort of xd
- Reports are hit and miss according to protonDB
- Myself I get a hang right after hitting 'enter' to go to the main menu, which persists for about 10-20 whole minutes (it feels like forever), after which it continues flawlessly! You just have to have patience on startup, it really will continue, it just literally will take 15 minutes on the clock, no joke.
- Occasionally some textures are missing/black
- Staying too long in the main menu or being connected to a lobby while the host disconnects, causes a crash.

But it runs! I've been playing the whole series again and it's amazing, to think I not only don't need an Xbox for Halo 3+, but I don't even need Windows. Thank you to the people who made this classic piece of gaming history available for everyone, it really means a lot!

spikes are the true boss of this game :V also the main character is the epitome if glass cannon, especially late game which was kind of painful for me and almost made me quit at some point even on easy xD
But boy is this cute and full of emotion and pretty art and music and precious wholesome stuff and so much more. The story is pretty good too. Can't really say a lot more about it without spoiling it, but if you're a fan of platformers and you enjoy challenge and cute stuff, this is one for you.

false advertising, they added hardware in one of the latest updates so it's not just software inc :V

Seriously though, this game may be the ultimate company management game? it has a *lot* of depth, with available technologies changing throughout the ages, stock markets and bonds and financial toys, dependencies between the products so you could make your own ecosystem, sims-like personal and interpersonal relationship status effects, lots of things to dress up your perfect office, and of course WAY MORE because it supports MODS which is truly my favorite feature in any game, there's no way you can match the amount of content an engaged community as a whole can put out, and the recent 'hardware' update was more or less already available for quite a while in the workshop (although the official implementation is way more extensive and has factorio-like belts and such for your own product manufacturing setups!) :)

All in all, could I recommend this? Certainly. The only downsides I can think of is that it runs a little heavy on CPU and GPU for a management game, but it still ran on any laptop I tried (although it did get quite warm). Even its price I'd consider almost low for what you get, this game is certainly very playable for early access, it always was and now after many updates I'd consider it to be almost a version 2, it really is very good.

If I had to recommend a company tycoon/management game, this would probably be the top of my list.
