Hellblade 2 is a visual spectacle, but not much more than that. Gameplay is simple and clumsy, both in terms of puzzles and combat, but also because it sticks to a 'no button prompt' rule, which means there are multiple instances where you are guessing what the game wants you to do. It might look like a cinematic, and the game wants you to in fact push forward to move the character, or press a button to stop her dying. You won't get any real warning of this, so it is up to your intuition.
It also features a main character dealing with mental psychosis, and honestly as a neurodivergent person myself, I found it irritating and pandering when this was inferred by multiple internal voices saying the most obvious and banal lines about what the character was feeling, or what she had to do.
At least it is quite short, but get it on deep discount if you really have to try it.

Hollowbody effectively evokes the feeling of PS1 era horror games. It's not without issues, but for a solo developer it's a pretty impressive first project. It's also nice to see a horror game set in a modern British backdrop, rather than the Victoriana or American trappings that are much more common. I look forward to seeing what the developer comes up with next.

I don't know why they built a hunky dad simulator around Gwent but I guess I have to respect artistic freedom

Absolutely top-tier metroidvania game. Great atmosphere, music, and gameplay. Can be tough but not super punishing like some games.

I have two issues:
1. Only being able to equip a certain number of traversal abilities. Later in the game once you have acquired more than 3, it starts to become necessary to swap them out. Going back and forth into the menu can get annoying, and if you forget which ones you have equipped you might find yourself taking a nasty accidental fall.

2. It is obvious that the writers and several of the voice actors are not native English speakers, so sometimes a word will be said particularly strangely. Note: One character's particularly bizarre pronunciation of the word 'betrothed'.

These are only small complaints and should not prevent you from trying out a truly excellent example of the genre.

The Witcher 2 has an incredibly engrossing story but the gameplay has not aged particularly well. The combat is clunky, it has the same rubbish QTEs that were rampant in most action games post-God of War, and the areas are not designed in a way that makes going back and forth through them particularly fun (and you will be going back and forth a lot). That said it still looks pretty good, and the way the quests weave together is incredibly well done. If you find yourself engaged early on, it will see you through to the end.

I finished this game in less than 45 minutes and it absolutely ruled and was very funny. Highly recommended and I look forward to what the developer does in future.

This is a solidly made game with some really nice pixel art, but unfortunately every element is done better by Hades. From combat mechanics, variety of playstyles, to the development of your homestead and interactions you have between runs, it's Hades every time. Hades also has far more diversity and charm in its roster of characters, by simply putting so much effort into giving every character so much uniqueness. If you have played Hades to death and need something new to scratch that itch, Children of Morta will do it for you, but if not: Hades.

This game is a pretty simple but enjoyable dungeon crawler with some fun mechanics and a cute aesthetic. It features standard RPG trope characters but you can change your play style a bit with a 'hand of cards' style equipment and skill set.

My main issue is that later in the game when avoiding area of effect damage becomes more important movement of your character becomes a bit awkward as you are only able to move forwards and backwards, not from side to side. This, coupled with the skill bindings being a bit fiddly can make the later levels a bit annoying rather than challenging sometimes.

Generally though, very fun!
