If I could this would be a MIXED review.

The basic of the game is pretty solid, lot of characters, lot of weapons, big open world maps with activities. The art style is great and the environment is very detailed and pretty. Free cosmetic, change the color all you want. An housing system (another remain of a previous failed attempt at an mmo). The animations are great and the production value is pretty high.

But the game kept too much of its previous mmo mtx origin, you have to farm materials to get stars for your character and weapons just like you would do in a freemium gacha game. You have to use "mutator" for some materials/currency to appear, the problem is that they are extremely annoying and they add nothing at all to the game but they do remove the fun aspect of running dungeons.

So if you want to level up every characters, you have to farm an insane amount of dungeon while also having the same experience everytime because using the same mutator = having the same experience. The map are not diverse enough and adding tothat the current mutator system and it's really dragging the game down heavily.

Without mutator, the game is a 8/10.
With mutator, it's a 6/10.
But the game is also pretty damn cheap for the overall content it offers, so despite the boring and tedious farming aspect that is created by the mutator, the game is still worth it. You'll have at least 20-25 hours of good times before you start to farm with the mutators.

So there is that

I don't have to play a lot to see it's an Asian take on the Moonlighter formula but with Furries and cooking. The formula works well, so you have here an enjoyable casual game that is less harder than Moonlighter but you still get do a lot of fighting against a wide cast of enemies.

You have a part where you gather ingredients and a part where you cook and serve in your restaurant to make money. Then buy a various range of upgrades for your character and your restaurant in order to make more money and to kill things faster. Rinse and repeat.

If you liked Moonlighter for it's loop, you will enjoy this game. If you are looking for a casual cute game that is not a farming sim game, then you'll enjoy this game as well.

I was really waiting for the 1.0 to be release after years of early access. The final result is great.

It's a very fun and engaging rogue lite fps. The gunfight feels INCREDIBLE. Every attack as oomph, every weapon is unique and it's simply a good combo between shooting and movement. The build diversity is a bit less deep than a game like Gunfire Reborn but the production quality of the game makes up for it. It's feels GOOD.

You have multiple classes that have all their passives, active abilities but also their own perks that you chose by leveling up. You can be a hunter that becomes invisible and get different bonus when using his javelins to take down enemies or you can be an engineer that uses drones to help him destroys his foes or even a melee assassin.

Lots of weapons as well, from pistol, smg and shotguns to miniguns, mortar and bows. There is every type of weapons you can hope for. Weapons also have affixes to change their behaviour (firerate, recoil, elemental damage, crit chance etc)

The only mid element of the game I would say is the level design. More specifically the lack of real variety. But Hades also had that and the game is still a masterpiece, so it's not a deal breaker at all in Roboquest, just something you notice quickly after several runs.

Overall it's a great experience, lots of variety in its gameplay, secrets to find, upgrades to get, builds to try and tons of enemies and bosses to kill.

Solid 9/10

Cheap but so rich in content. Dozen of hours of unlocking new characters, powers, map and lots of secrets. The game that created a lot of clones that tries to take its place but none so far beat the champion. A true labor of love.

Excellent game with a great amount of content, multiple characters, skill tree, unlocks everywhere. One of the best rogue lite out there and very cheap for the quality it has. A must buy.

I'm not familiar with the D&D universe and I was looking for a decent coop action rpg to play with random players because that's my style of game. But I have been very disappointed by the experience this game offer. A somewhat long review awaits you. Let's dig in shall we ?

Combat

The combat feels janky, your character is very slow to turn and you can't adapt to the situation on the fly, you are stuck until your animation finishes to be able to do another action which create a very heavy unfun combat. This feeling is also reinforced by the floaty animation, you hit the air and it damages the opponent and vice versa. There is a decent number of moves for each of the four characters and some of them applies status to the enemies. Problem is the game doesn't tell you what each status does. What does sapped do ? or Charmed ? or cursed ? No idea.

The game has a power indicator of each character which is supposed to be for selecting difficulties but even with 2 difficulty lower than my power level, I still get 3 shots or sometimes less with the tanky dwarf character with all stat point going into magic and physical defense. So it feels frutrating most of the time like the game was never tested.

Loot and Exploration

Loot is your classic common to legendary with the usual color system with stats boost like elemental/physical resistance, % crit chance, +% stam/health etc. There is also set bonuses which every rarity loot has, it's not a special type of loot like in diablo 3 for exemple. Each acts have more chance to give you a specific set so it helps to farm the set you want the most. There is different level of loot (which is not tied to your character level), high level loot is only available in higher difficulty. The loot drop quality is only affected by chosing to not rest and getting a checkpoint + refill of all your potions and pick the + loot drop option. if you died you will have to go back to the previous checkpoint and if you never picked camp and always + loot drop chance you have to start from the beginning of the mission. Your mission progression will not be reset but all enemies will respawn so you have to rush back to were you die, sometimes for 3-5 minutes of running.

The exploration is pretty well done and probably my favorite thing in the whole game. You have hidden chests, elevators to secret zones, traps to avoid in different patterns, some big chambers with certaines runes to activate to access multiple chest and other rewards.

AI and enemy variety

The AI in this game is a bit inconsistent. In the act 1 enemies just watch you kill their friend wothout moving and waiting for their turn like good little goblin. I thought that maybe they made the goblin stupid for lore reason over gameplay ? But the same goblin in other acts will be way more agressive so it doesn't really make sense. Also the archer character can kill elites who are on lower ground than her without them reacting because they have no path to reach her.

Enemy variety wise there is 7 types of enemies, some of these are elite version (which mean recolor and higher hp/ damages) but the worst part is that bosses are also reskin of the basic mobs. Most of them have the same moveset + 1 new move and that's it (looking at you Butcher) so you fight a small pool of enemies over and over again.

Graphics and environment

Game is not really amazing by its texture quality but the overall art and lightning make up for it creating a good enough illusion of beauty. Where the game is at its best iare the environment. Great background with mountians, huge warrior sculptures, massive lava forges, well your classic fantasy environment but they really nailed the scale of it all.

Coop and lobbies

So this game is a 1 to 4 players coop game and it's way better to play with other players than solo since solo has terrible balancing right now since there doesn't appear to be any scaling. But beware if you want to buy this game to play with random player in public match because this game lacks a lot of feature and QoL. First there is no text chat, second there is no server browser. So you can join anyone, if you are farming high level difficulty you may end up with a level 1 host who will chose a lvl 1 difficulty, which will give you no xp and no usuable loot so you'll have to leave and retry a dozen time until you find a decent lobby of your level, with a playable ping and possibly with the difficulty you want to farm. It can take 15-30 minutes of joining/quiting before finding a good lobby and the number of player is quickly going down already so if you want to play with game coop, try to find regular players to invite rather than random because it will not end up well.

Verdict

So as you can see, a lot of wrongs for too few rights and that is why I cannot recommand it. There still isn't any patch released 6 days after a very bad launch so that's not a good sign either. Overall pretty bad communication from the dev team and I don't thing the game will become good in the futur but if it does I'll change my review accordingly.

Thank you for taking the time to read my review

Fantastic environments and atmosphere, fun gunplay but plagued by wonky animations, performance issues, flawed sound design and a short story. Decent enemy variety but terrible spawning. Good amount of weapons but superficial loot system. Boss fights are not well designed either.

Count around 20h to 100% achievement the game without a guide and replaying the levels otherwise the story can be beat in 7-8 hours for a first normal walkthrough.

Count this review as a mixed rather that positive or negative but closer to negative. Wait for a good sale if you are a W40k fan.

Hotline Miami on speed. This is a great top down action game, it's fast paced, very fun, a lot of creativity and a very strong level design. The OST has some really nice bangers as well.

There is A LOT of weapons everywhere and your goal is to power through levels by any means necessary. Use a pistol, a scythe, a snowball, a fish, an explosive barrel, a mini gun and others more or less crazy alternatives. It's all about speed, making combo and using different weapons to try to get the highest score possible. You can unlock hats that have various effect by defeating bosses or reaching a certain highscore. The hats have a real Hotline Miami vibe of course, you can tell the devs are fan of that game, you feel their passion throughout the game.

The artstyle is quite unique and beautiful, all the different elements of maps are well highlighted, making combat really fluid. There is also a good variety of enemies from your basic John to miniguns, riflemen and big boyz just smashing the ground. Sometime they have protection and are immune to melee or range attacks so you have to find the right type of weapon in the heat of battle.

There is also boss fights, which are a combinaison of platforming and combat. They all pretty good and always original.

The only issue I could find was that sometimes the perspective will kill you. There is a bit of platforming here and there but sometimes you don't really see where you are going to land due to the complexe level design and the fixed camera.

The game has a correct length for his price, around 15h to 100% for me (there is collectibles, high scores and one speed running cheevo to get for the full achievement, not very hard but very enjoyable)

TLDR
So yes I really recommand this game, very fun and explosive top down action game, very arcade. For the fan of Hotline Miami, Honk Kong Massacre and other of that type, fan of action games in general and achievement hunters. The price is good, the whole production value is good.

9/10
