Early Access Review
I tried Wayfinder during the open test and enjoyed the world and general loop. But it needed a lot of content and optimization. So when i saw that the 0.2 patch reworked the UI, added tons of changes and content; I decided to buy in to early access. The game itself has a beautiful art-style, also the combat is fun and feels better now with the extra feedback from critical hits.

I did not get to try the new content and other parts of the game, because I felt the optimization still needs work to make the game even enjoyable for me. I had great FPS, then the game would micro-stutter every time a new asset would load in. This includes in dungeons and in the main hub of Skylight. Running around or just panning the view in circles, when assets are drawn micro-stutters would happen.

I had the game install on an SSD, have a R5 3600 CPU and 3060 TI GPU. Like I said the game would run great until the micro-stutters would drop FPS and it would pop back up. I find this unplayable, so I refunded the game. Will try it again in future patches and change this review if the optimization improves.

Evolve is failed potential due to Greed and bugs.

For others it could have failed for many reasons, for me it failed because I waited til 7 months after release to buy the game and it's still a mess of greed and bugs...

From the host of bugs I chose to point out the most annoying one, I had a total of 25 matches online. 5 of which crashed directly to the desktop after 20+ mintues into a match giving me a loss AND annoying the living ♥♥♥♥ out of me and most likely my enemies ( I was the monster).

As for the GREED side of things, most people complain about the large amount of DLC in the game but aside from it being overpriced I don't mind most of items in the shop, but one thing I do ..... a tooltip in the game told me that "WHEN HUNTERS DIE AFTER HAVING TWO STRIKES THEY ARE DEAD"..... even the wiki said this.... but the core aspect of the game which made the monster seem more formidible was changed and not only was it changed it was put behind a paywall.

The ONLY way to revive a person who DIES after recieving two strikes is to BUY a DLC only character named Lazarus who can cloak in and ressurect his allies an infinite amount of times. They most likely did this to make the DLC seem worth it and make a quick buck. In the end it's where the game seeped from heavy DLC to pay-to-win style mechanics and that's the kind of greed I can't support.

I spent $20 on my copy of evolve, got about 30hrs out of it, some fun, some frustrating and some maddening. Take this is a rant/review or whatever. Mostly it's a warning for potential buyers and a way to shame turtlerock who had the shell of a great game but do to bugs/blaancing/and greed ruined it. cya

[Turns out I was wrong about Lazarus being a DLC only character, I could've sworn I saw him in the shop when I skimmed it, but I was wrong. I take back the claims of the game being pay- to win, and change the aruement from overpowerred characters locked behind paywalls to just horrendous balancing issues.] Credit to Dyrak55 for correcting me.

I've only played the multiplayer portion of the game so far, and I'm loving it. The graphics are awesome and so is the gunplay. If you like tactical shooters where positioning and working together matters this will be enjoyable for you. Since the game uses dedicated servers, you can choose a server with low ping so you don't lag. Also you can filter the type of game you want using tons of checkboxes for each item/map/mode. I highly recommend it to a tactical/TPS fan.
