Overall good game but w/ RNG*.
Negatives: It is a grindy game w/ clear monetization aspects and for a person willing to spend hundreds of hours into it, it may lack true endgame content. Also as a former warframe player, the color customization is limited even with the options it gives you. Game also seems hardware intensive as even with relatively ok specs will still get CTDs unless running on low graphics. Certain gameplay is really only learned through forums / online tutorials (not great in-game tutorials).
Postivies: Gunplay is not bad for what it is and certain weapon sounds hit the sweet spot for me. The graphics even on low seem good. If you join during an event, it appears you can catch up fairly easily. The events offer decent enough rewards. Really like the movement, and slow debuffs dont last too long. Most boss fights have easy to figure out move-sets. Grind is still better than other games.

Great Game ruined by a single hacker on Emerald. If you are in North America, do not play this game.

There are only two NA servers, Connery (which is pretty much dead due to pop.) and Emerald. Currently there is a single blatant hacker on emerald who is killing off the playerbase.

The hacker is active during prime time hours and forces a faction imbalance (people joining one faction to avoid hacker). Hacker is active everyday and will kill you with a mana turret from underground, a flying spinning sundy, flying assets in spawn room, a knife from 1000m away, and so much more. It doesn't matter where you are cause he can still damage / kill you. He is getting banned, but only the next day, not during prime time hours.

The owners have done nothing to address this, as the hacker is extremely blatant and it is clear they don't care for NA servers, as the ban only occurs during EU work hours. They could fix the issue by hiring a part time staff member to monitor the server during active hours or give trusted members of the playerbase the power to ban, but it is clear that they don't care about player needs.

There is immense frustration of having such a unique game, die by apathetic owners and a single hacker.

Early Access Review
Game is and can be Abused
As of 18.05.2019

While many people have probably had good experiences with this I can accurately say I did not. This is because I have gotten into many games with meta gamers who will not properly try to play the game and instead just try to get each other the most amount of points. They'll simply wait for the "Bunny Event" which is no longer random, and will take advantage of it by killing anybody who isn't part of their group, even if they're not a traitor. You can usually tell these people apart because they will have all the yellow gear, which is surprising as of now because even the best player has a hard time earning 1k points per game (as long as you're not a traitor).

They will do this to get rare items which are then used to get rare items and sell on the steam marketplace. This has occured in many other games before, but you would think since there's a history of this the devs would have thought to fix this abuse. There's no reporting feature which allows these people to carry on taking advantage of the system (and open lobbys) and profiteering from the game which has a broken system.

Fixes
  • first have a proper report feature for meta gaming
  • the devs should watch out for people who sell a lot of yellow gear on steam marketplace
  • have "Bunny Event" set as random (sometimes not even happening in a game) so groups don't take advantage of this
  • maybe have a hidden level system so users with high scores compared to the rest of the user base who have the same hours so you might know who's cheating

Side notes:
A few things more things I don't like is you can try to actively play get unlucky and end up with 0 pts earned after 10 min of in game play. It's just not cool to enter a lobby, get in a game, the "Bunny Event" occuring and you end up with bad luck and no points. Also a lot of people I have noticed will crash, at least one person per game. For a game centered on player interaction the VOIP is not the greatest.

While I do have a lot of negatives to say about this game there are positives and I am too amped up to really list them, which might make this crueller than it should be. However this game is definitely in a state where it can be abused and it is actively being abused by groups of players and while there is no proper way to manage this I would not trust playing this game.

Early Access Review
Not Worth it, Even if Discounted

As of 12.22.2018 - Patch 0.3.1

To start with I love this game and this is one of the few games where I feel like the devs reallly listen to the community. They also have made some extraodinary changes that should be appreciate, but patch 0.3.1 is just a mess overall and I just not worth some peoples time. Also would like to add all my initial ways to improve have been met or gone far beyond which is amazing, so I removed that list.

This game is totally worth buying, just as long as you don't plan to play it anytime soon.

Positive Changes
First of all they have updated overall performance and load times to the point where it can be considered great. Especially the FPS which most people I know who are running fairly cheap mid-tier systems are running above 100. The tanks are also doing well as they feel more maneauverable and can't be stolen as much. There's still moments where players will intentionally run in front of you to get TKed so they can steal your tank but that's not the fault of the devs. They've also fixed spawns so people can't really shoot in anymore and will sometimes change so that spawn killing is less frequent (still a problem but far less now). Even the snowball effect of killstreaks is still around I feel like they've done something to improve on it, because I feel like it's now easier to turn the game around (as long as the winning team has less than 3.5k pts).

Negative Changes/ Problems Occuring
To start with even though performance has gone up crashes have become more frequent to the point where if I haven't restarted my computer it occurs every other game, and if I have it occurs once every two hours or so. They also have sorta ruined ruined the fluidity of shooting because not only does it feel like only have your shots hit the actual target (you see blood or the helmet flies off but no damage indicator appears) you can't even lead a target anymore cause the enemies realistically 5 sec. behind where they were. Faster load times may seem nice but when you constantly join a match that is pretty much done or has already ended, it doesn't really matter. Another issue I have seen since the patch is more empty reloads, and the game ends up in a loop of you trying to reload your gun unless you switch weapons. This is even worse when you have a 60 round mag and your out of a firefight for a long time. This can be doubly annoying as they recently reduced the amount of ammo you can carry but only for certain guns which was meant to promote squad play but only made firefights one sided. Bullet penetration is also weird as you can shoot through a hardwood shelf with any caliber but a cardboard box is bulletproof. Also if you were to stand behind a fence, you are suddently indestructible as its actually a wall texture and can't be shot through at all. Balancing also seems to be skewed, as what seems reasonable to most people is largely disregarded. An example of this can be seen with the G29 a .338 rifle, and fairly light weight wise, which can one shot most enemies while the TOR a .50 cal, which is extremely heavy, mainly does 80 - 90 damage if your lucky. This is besides the fact that the G29 starts with 10 rounds while the TOR starts with 40 or so. The game doesnt even reward you for long distance shots as past 100 meters most snipers bairly do 20 dmg. The game also seems to favor Eastern assault rifles as they have a higher damage model (which makes sense with them being 7.62), but also higher RPM over their 5.56 counterparts which makes no sense. By far the worst part of the new patch is the introduction of the "prototype" map Smolensk. The map has no textures and no visual cover and while this is early access, that map currently only belongs in PTE, and by having it on the main branch just seems lazy. While the excuse can be said that they are trying to gather data on the map, by having no visual cover everyone just ends up playing sniper cause its just too easy not too (even though the trees leaves are bulletproof).

The devs also seem to shadow buff and nerf things willy-nilly which was fun but has gotten annoying. The meta is also the AK-15 which still somehow can kill people faster than a shotgun shooting point blank.

PROS:
deleted to make room, but basically gunplay felt excellent and game is beautiful

CONS:
The reason why I state this game is unplayable and probably should be treated not so seriously is that spawn camping is a very real and very easy thing to do in this game. There's absolutely no I-frames and the area at which you spawn is predictable allowing for many people to sit at a point just outside and shoot you. While this wouldn't be a huge issue they have made it so enemy vehicles can enter your main spawn and sit there shooting you with little recorse cause you die immediately upon spawning. While it does seem some maps have it so theres an "out of bounds" for enemy players trying to enter your spawn it only seems to be for the "east side". An argument could be made that there's at least 3 spawns when you entire team is pushed to a corner, however every map has it where a tank sitting on "spawn area 1" can see "spawn area 2" as well. If that wasn't bad enough there's a terrible amount of stuttering, causing freezes, that is almost equal to the same amount of time played in a session. It's so bad that a majority of your deaths can be attributed to you looking frozen at a screen, then BAM dead. It wouldn't be as bad except it most commonly occurs as you're staring at an enemy. I underlined this because this is a main issues other players and I have been experiencing which just makes the game infuriating. You can't play tactically when there's a chance your screen will freeze but for everyone else you just walk out of cover. At first I thought this was a prodoct of my just a lousy connection, except the stuttering started happening in the menu as well. To go along with this almost everybody I talked to has their ping over 150 while playing in their country and having amazing interne. Another issue is chat filters/ restrictions not being present causing many people to just spam whatever is the new trend and just being a donkey's behind. While normally I wouldn't have a problem with a game crashing once a day on early access, this game brings up a crash report UI, but has it so it's not even working, so we can't even help the devs with it. While I do like the idea of rewards for doing well, if you are on a losing team its almost like a snowball that turns into an avalanche as more of the enemies keep on spawning the rewards and your entire team is stuck in spawn cause the enemy just keeps calling in artillery or tanks shoot you the moment you run out. Squad gameplay seems to reward the squad leader too much points as it seems he get quadruple whatever his squad-mates get for doing the objective. This seems to be combatted with the game chaning the squad leader at random, but actually doesn't help as you'll either end up with a really bad leader who won't issue commands or one who is amazing and then switched w/o anyone realizing. Also there'll be times where I just can't spawn in my rewards and its not clear why.

Meta
Currently the "meta" that is running around with a rocket launcher and shooting people with it and then refilling the ammo with what you carry and shooting more rockets. Another "meta" is running around with the Tor (one shot sniper) and basically use it as a shotty since it one shots anyone at any range from my experience.

Note: While I did try to make a list to help, I'm not a dev so I don't if any these things listed are easy to do or how long it'll take.

Also I really do love this game and I hope it becomes a masterpiece in the future, unless you are willing to stick it out with the really bad I suggest not buying.

I honestly love this game, but I can't recommend this game, especially for US Central players. Written December 2017

Major Issue:
One major problem I have with this game is its weapon mechanics. I do agree that these things could change with time but I have been playing this game for quite a while and with each new update the problems seem to get worse. To be specific shotguns seem to overpowered taking half health (of the light characters) from across the map, while machine guns from the same distance barely do that with a full clip.

Minor Issues:
Netcode - expected of new games but still seems to be the same level upon initial release
Changes - the Devs seems to care more about UI and cosmetics then more important issues
Variety - a lot of mercs don't have more than 3 weapons but the sidearms and melee are only for specific main weapons
Casual matches - for a game like this with such a varying degree of skill this game seriously needs proportional matchmaking unlike now where really good players are going against new players
Ranked matches - seems just as bad as casual with skill not being proportianate to other people you are playing with
Hackers - its to be expected of a F2P game but there are a lot hackers in this game, being fairly hard to report them, and near impossible if you aren't currently playing a game with them

US CENTRAL PLAYERS BEWARE:
All their US servers are located either far East coast or West coast, so if you are playing anywhere in the central states expect lag of varying degrees. The lag is also not consistent so even if you are playing on the same server with a consistent connection you will jump from really good connection to a rage inducing degree.

I have been playing this game for over 150 hrs now and plan to do so more, but I can't find myself recommending it to others simply because of bad mechanics and lag.
