  • If you play the game for 50 hours, you will have fun.
  • If you play the entire game and attempt to do the final objectives, you will understand much of the negativity.
  • Without playing the previous versions (.1->.5) you wont understand the rest of the negativity.

TLDR - This game had a lot of hype and potential, and was not able to realize it before it ran out of time. You will play it and likely have fun for a while, until you don't.

TLDR - I don't think it's a bad game, just a very polarizing game. You will either love it or hate it. Watch the videos, the game isn't trying to hide what it is. It is exactly what you see in the videos.

This game has possibly the worst first 2 hours of a game I've ever played.

It is either boring you with very long repetitive cinematics where your characters keep forgetting about the bombs in their heads or it is non-stop teaching you new mechanics without giving you time to master the ones it showed you previously. I have almost exactly 2 hours of playtime, and I did one real mission. I haven't even really played the game yet and I have to decide if I want to refund it or not.

The gameplay seems schizophrenic. Non-stop jumping, dodging, and combos. Jump up, shoot people, fall down. Swing over, shoot people in mid air, drop down, combo people, jump up again. This is the gameplay loop. Also, shoot the purple glowing spot. The beginning of the game feels like the end of most other games, where you have lots of movement options and different enemy types. And you learned how to use them over time, but in this case you do them all from the start. Just watch the videos on the store page, watch much the characters jump around and shoot, or do a 180 and shoot, or fall from the sky while shooting. That is the game.

Yet at the same time, the world and scale of the game is interesting. The character models are impressive. There are moments where something special is happening. This looks exactly like a game I should enjoy. But the one mission I did play was on rooftops, and I kept falling off because I wasn't used to doing the combat and movement at the same time. And I realized, it will be more of this, and it will get more complicated.

I like King Shark / Harley, they are fun. Deadshot is seemingly devoid of a personality. But every time I have to listen to either Captain Boomerang or Amanda Waller, I want to stop playing. This game acts like these characters are familiar to us, that we've seen them before, and we all love their jokes and personalities. And maybe some people do, but I'm guessing for most of us we barely know anything about them. So we have no connection to them. I'm sure they grow on us over time, but at the beginning it's terrible.

I like this game but it gets very tedious and frustrating to play without looking at websites and youtube.

It is not fun to constantly be starved on power.

I like that I can play a round in about 20 minutes.

I like that there are upgrades that allow me more mobility and options when using the Spider Tank.

I like mining the rocks.

In the beginning the 10 ore limit is a bit tedious and the default combat stats of the Spider Tank are pretty bad but you can improve them easily.

If you like the previous games you will probably like this. Although it doesn't do much new, it's pretty good.

If you've played the previous ones, you already know what to expect.

But by having such strict limits over how many towers you can bring, and what heroes you can bring, and where you can build or not build a tower, the late game feels more like a puzzle and less like a game. Sure there are many ways to beat a level, but there are also many things that will not work too, and you may not realize your strategy is wrong until half-way through the waves. Then you swap towers and try again.

The production value is high, it's fun to watch. But I just got tired of being stressed for the first 10 minutes of a level because I wasn't sure if my strategy would hold up for the last few waves.

You don't know how a tower really plays until you try it. Like the forest that does constant damage, sounds good right? But the radius is small and the damage is low. You don't know how a hero plays until you try them either (and level them up).

Everything in this game is so slow that it's frustrating to try new things. And eventually the boring strategy you developed to beat most of the game will stop working.

It's OK.

This is not Stardew Valley, and it's not Terraria either, so if you are wanting more of those. This isn't it.

It's a combination of a few things you probably like. Maybe you'll like this new combination.

It's not that its a bad game, it's fine. I just didn't find myself engrossed with the gameplay like I did with Stardew and Terraria.

What I didn't like
- The long run back to base.
- How dark it was
- Mouse and Keyboard controls, specifically for aiming weapons.

Yes this is a fun game.

Yes this is pretty much an idle mmo game.

Yes I spent money on this game because I liked it and I felt the purchases were worthwhile.

I played it a lot, I got to the 3rd world.

I lost interest immediately when they added dungeons for you to play with other players, and you had to deal with the chaos of forming a party with strangers who want to min / max content without a true communication system. And get kicked from groups for not being overgeared for content. Have you played MMOs in non-guild settings? Then you know what I mean.

But I specifically wanted to play this game originally for a mmo-like game that DOESN'T have multiplayer. You can say it's optional content but it rewards items, so it doesn't feel optional. It was a single player game, effectively, until this change.

You may not mind this group aspect. It's a good game overall but this one change made me lose interest and slowly stop playing until I uninstalled after a week or so.
