Edit: Now that the camera is unlocked, you can choose to play in 3rd person or 1st person view! I recommend 3rd person, so you can see your own toon and the outfit she's wearing after purchasing them. Also, 3rd person makes it feel more like an RPG!

Has the same feel as an epic RPG - "just...1...more.... delivery!". No combat tho, or at least, none so far. Even if there was combat, I wouldn't know what to use as weapons... there are none.

Ambience is very Blade-Runner-ish. Some parts dark, some parts bright.
Graphics-wise, very retro.

Overall, I'd recommend it. Nothing feels rushed. No timed missions (deliveries) yet.

Having played Bridge Commander, I just jumped straight to ONGOING ADVENTURES, skipped tutorial and campaign (for now).

Totally reminds me of the old game Bridge Commander. In the SP game, the AI is a bit stupid - it gets stuck behind asteroids etc. Overall, SP mode is fun, makes me want to re-install Bridge Commander again and play that after I'm done with this.

Wish it had TrackIR support, but not needed. What is needed are hotkeys for the various stations (eg F2 for HELM, F3 for TACTICAL etc) as well as the PADD at the captain's knee (TNG bridge). Needing to click at things slows the game down.

ps: Dammit, first campaign mission is the Kobayashi Maru.... *#&$#^%@&*

In a nutshell... this plays more like an RPG than an AC game. It feels more like Witcher 3 than Assassin's Creed. You don't even get the Hidden Blade till about 6 to 10 hours into the story, then you see why all Assassin's in the Brotherhood has their ring finger cut off :)

Make no mistake - this is truly an origins game. You get to see how the Assassins learnt their craft... sneaking, "Eagle Vision", etc. Yes they're rudimentary in the game but that's cuz this is the beginning of it all. You don't "git gud" like Syndicate. Plus, this is 49 BC, technology is at best, Bronze Age level.

The only gripe I have is that while I can rebind the keys to anything I want, both keyboard and gamepad, I just can't seem to "get it" to be the same as previous AC games... so in the end I gave up, reset to defaults and learnt the new layout. Which, frankly speaking, contributes to the feeling of an RPG game instead of an AC game.

This game is probably a "niche" game, unless more developers start to jump on the bandwagon here. Essentially this is a SuperHero game. You are invulnerable, you have heat vision, can fly at speeds faster than light, and you can shoot death rays from your hands (just enough differences to "Superman").

The story is simple - you awake to your father/parent telling you that you're supposed to stop an alien invasion of Earth. Being Superman, you'd think it's easy - heck it is NOT! You can easily cause more damage and deathtoll to the humans during your battles.

The great part, which I love, is the EXPLORATION. Once you manage to unlock your FTL power, you can essentially leave the Milky Way and fly to other galaxies. This is not as boring as it sounds, as various galaxies and stars in the Universe will hold strange obelisks that will tell you the background story of how this Universe came to exist (as well as portions of the narrative as told by your parent).

The things I think that needs to be improved:

1. Ability to "rotate" while in flight - I can't seem to "level out" manually like I can with flight sim games...the game will automatically level you out, slowly, after you have made a turn.

2. I can't ram into the aliens - Being Superman, he sure rammed a number of villians over the years. In the game I can't seem to ram anything. I'm invulnerable, I should be able to become a battering ram!

3. I can't grab stuff - sometimes when I am close to the aliens, I wanted to grab them/hold them/push them away from the civilians, but I can't. And I can't ram them either (see point 2).

4. Because of points 2 and 3, I am forced to shoot death rays from my eyes and hands, and if I missed, I cause more damage than the aliens~!

5. No mirrors :( I want to have a look at my costume, at least... but looking down at my feet, it seems I'm naked in the game.... no boots, no shoes, just bare feet and toes.

Would I recommend it? I would, if you're a superhero geek. Otherwise if you're just here for the FPS.... maybe not.

This game is a hidden gem. Seriously... feels like Far Cry, but has elements of RPG. Yes it's open world, you can talk to anybody, do anything, follow or don't follow the missions.

But it's not like Just Cause where you can blow everything up. Driving is a little bit clunky, and the map... sigh... map is just a static graphic with no way to zoom in and out. The only map that is even remotely useful is the "minimap" which you can toggle between 2 functions.

Also.... the voiced dialogs are all in Russian, but they're supposed to be speaking "Spanish"... words like "gracias" and "peso" pops up quite often. That alone is funny to me.... Spanish in Russian :)

And, the English translations sometimes are so confusing and hilarious that you just give up trying to understand what they're saying when they're giving you the missions. If you thought "Eye Cybermancy" dialogs were bad, this game has parts that are worse.... but funny.

Overall I'd give this a thumbs up. Good enough to play, if you can just overlook those. Got to get used to the way the game keeps inventory (take, drop, equip) though... and the convulated key-binds.

Overall, this is a pretty decent RPG. Just enough "must...complete..one...more...quest" feeling to keep you going and interested in the story. Upgrading your gear is rather unique to all of Spider's games (the devs) - similar to Bound By Flame and Mars: War Logs. You upgrade different parts of a weapon, eg pommel, blade, etc to make it better. Same goes for armour. A little different from the usual "throw this away and wear the new stuff" kind of upgrading your gear. As such, crafting is a pretty important skill to have, and should be maxxed out as soon as you can, if you want to upgrade your gear.

Also, while there are 3 distinct "classes" (warrior, rogue, guardian) in the game, you're not "locked" into a class at character creation. You are free to choose among them during your gameplay. The game calls it "stances". So you can easily switch stances mid-fight if you choose to do so. However, you only have so many skillpoints to allocate, so choosing which skills to improve determines which "class" you really are, even though you can be any class at any time. Personally I like the fighting animation of using the staff so I stuck with the "warrior" class.

As I progressed through the story, this game seems to start a few months just before Mars: War Logs, and then continuing through the same time as the earlier game. Some parts of the story made references to the earlier game, and the events occuring there. However it does leave a big gaping hole in the story for "Mary" though, one of your companions in the earlier game :p

Overall, I would recommend this game. Not as "heavy" as some other RPGs but there's a good amount of gameplay you can get out of it.

ps: I found that I fight better using keyboard and mouse rather than a gamepad :p

Make no mistake, this is an MMO-in-hiding.

There are 3 skill trees - Medical (healer), Tech (mage/crowd control), and Security (tank/dps). The skills themselves are all along those lines. In the game you get a "Base of Operation" where you need to upgrade the different "wings" (medical, tech and security) to unlock the respective skills for your character.

You can run solo in PvE all the way to the end of the story (according to forums), but I'm still taking my time enjoying the game. Co-Op is way fun, and PvP is available in a special area called The Dark Zone. There are no "PvP flags" in the main game, as every player is given his own instance the moment he steps out of a safe zone. You can't even see your friend even if you 2 stood in front of each other on the map, but are not in the same group/party.

Overall, enjoyable. I prefer solo or co-op play instead of head-to-head PvP so I like this game a lot!

Short version - Like Eurotruck Simulator 2, except in America. If you liked ETS2, you'll like ATS.

As is, at release, the ATS map is pretty darn small, averaging 600 to 700 miles end-to-end. Yeah if I manually configure the SatNav to go into smaller, undiscovered roads, I might get 900 miles... maybe.

Personally, I somehow find that American important locations in towns and cities, as depicted in the game, are spread too far apart. You can drive a couple of minutes to get to the company you want to take a job for, or to get to a service centre to get your truck repaired/upgraded. This eats into you "awake time" in the game, and you start yawning very quickly (to me) while on the road.

Plus, rest stops seem to be rather scarce in America when compared to Europe. Good thing is, you don't get fined for not sleeping. Speed limit signs are almost non-existent. Woe be to you if you were in the process of slowing down from 70 to 30 when approaching a city, and a cop car happens to pass you - you get fined.....EVEN WHEN YOU'RE SLOWING DOWN.

On the up-side - No speed cameras :)

Wow! Just... wow~!!

Ok I'm a fan of Elite-style kind of space games - trading, bounty hunting, mining, etc etc... and Rebel Galaxy is way up there. From the intro music to the narration, it reeks of the Old West...cowboys and indians, that kinda thing. It should also conjure up images of "Firefly", if you get what I mean.

The story, at least in the beginning, is kinda cliched - Almost the same story from Independence War Edge Of Chaos. Your Aunt sent you a cryptic message to meet her at a space station way out in the boonies, you get there and she's not there. You meet a "friend" of hers, and he starts sending you off on missions with promises and leads to help you find your Aunt.

Now, I haven't put in much hours into this game yet but I can already tell I'll be putting in a couple of hundred hours at least.

I'll write the same thing I told a friend when he asked me how this game is:

It's a cross between the old Sierra games (point-and-click) and Neverwinter Nights (rotating 3D). Plus, the funky pixellated graphics give it a retro feel.

10/10
