My favourite entry from Fromsoft, despite the lesser replay value due to lack of multiplayer and weapon variety.

- The game fully achieves what it sets out to do: straightforward, tight, responsive, sword action combat. Heavy focus on timing and execution.
- Fromsoft excel in character and creature animation like no other studio. Player actions are extremely snappy, boss attacks virtually always challenging but fair. An interesting variety of enemies and bosses.
- Exploration is more linear than the rest of their games, but a branching path gives some room for variety in repeat playthroughs.
- The posture system rewards good play against aggressive bosses - something Elden Ring badly needed.
- Graphics won't set the world on fire by today's standards, but the setting is beautiful and combat visual clarity is high.
- Story is there but isn't in your face. The player always comes first. Some nice lore if you dig for it.

Pair it up with an unlocked FPS mod and a tutorial skip mod for repeat playthroughs and you're golden. Just thinking about this review has me wanting to start another playthrough.

Great alternative to Duolingo for learning Russian

Not bad if you really enjoy mass multiplayer chaos and chivalry style melee combat. That said, if you value responsive controls with an agile feel in your games, you should look elsewhere.

Surprisingly good smashlike with deep tech, fluid visuals and great netcode. For £5 it's a steal.
