Okay, as someone who has been following dev for a while, I can say this game IS fun,
however
It is clunky, absolutely EARLY access. Devs released it to EA 15 months prior than intended and it shows.
Game has some issues with IK and models, hands blocking sights, weird movement and pov with over the shoulder aiming, some issues with mantling, performance, etc.

for the good stuff though:
holy hell is it beautiful. Every map is so insanely detailed and actually feels like a warzone, engagements between factions left and right, giant mechs stomping cyborgs and foot soldiers, helicopters and drones laying down fire from above, troops of soldiers following a mech leader, it is soooo cool to see. The enemy design is terrifying, seeing some of them and feeling the hairs on the back of your neck raise as suddenly the valuable loot you have in your rig becomes a chance instead of a guarantee.
this game is cool. UI is amazing, sound design is chunky and satisfying, colors are deep and contrasty, its the visual experience its hyped up to be.

Gameplay wise, you have to think differently, You arent the underdog rising to the top, you arent the supersoldier drugged out on chems, you arent the legendary mech pilot, youre the little rat scavenging what those guys leave behind when they fight, and fight they do. You HAVE to play stealth, combat is not an option but a last resort, shooting alerts enemies and draws them near, hiding and waiting is integral to survival. Once you learn how to bait and avoid enemies, survival becomes a much greater possibility, aiming for heads, waiting to single out an enemy, using your environment for cover and to confuse enemies, it helps greatly.

for the INFAMOUS water mechanic everyones complaining about, being that if your base runs out of water you lose everything, its super easy once you learn to survive. quests reward water, water spawns in raids, I have 8 hours and have ammassed 49 days of water backlog. It's not a massive, strenuous, scary issue to constantly worry about. manage your inventory and plan what you will scavenge and youll be fine.

all in all, good game, it has issues and is ABSOLUTELY early access, but oh my god it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool.

this game is awesome.

coming from a star citizen/ED player, this fills the craving for CARGO cargo.

This game has some incredibly detailed and fleshed out cargo systems, the graphics are very pretty, the progression feels appropriate and well paced.

be warned, reccomended difficulty is HARDDD. Constant maintenance juggling, route planning, and stress haha.

music is incredible, its awesome to chill out to the radio and haul some neon to atlas prime.

As soon as that first Hellpod slammed down into the rocky surface of Angels Venture, I felt the Black and Gold patriotism of Super Earth flood my stimmed up veins as that pod opened to a sea of bugs, bullets, bombs, and landmines. Grabbing my MG, I began to unload Freedom in the form of super sonic lead upon the Buggy Bastards crawling over the horizon,

Sure its got content to play through, but man. ALL the companions are incredibly irritating, main story did not grab my attention at all. Took 12 hours of slog and mediocre content, mostly unenjoyable, to finally reach a point in which I started enjoying the game.
Cool guns, but the simplified armor system where its just one suit instead of torso, arms, legs, and helmet is quite disappointing.
Game has muddy and plastic-y textures, weird ugly haze that needed a lot of nvidia game filters to fix. game filters actually helped make this game pretty.
the amount of loading screens is frustrating but learning the keybinds to avoid as many menus as possible helped.
other than all that, its okay, not $70 okay but okay. wouldnt pay more than 30-40 for it though, wait for a sale or something

This is a strange review to make. From the view of gameplay the game is good, I LOVE the combat, spell casting is smooth, theres a good dodge and parrying/blocking works well. The open world is beautiful and character customization is great, as well as decently inclusive.
My issues with this game started to arise after the 2 hour mark, sadly. Encountering the singular trans character Sirona Ryan was nice but as much of the controversy around her points out, it felt like pandering, or even outright transphobic.
There are also strange encounters throughout the world and with characters that sometimes seem like horrid stereotypes or slightly racist? I'm not sure if this is seeing stuff that isn't there but its nagging at the back of my mind.
I can't in good conscience reccomend the game due to JK Rowling of course. To me the game is fun but the amount of controversy and moral issues I've found only a few hours into the story outweighs that.

devs are against the community, actually bewildered, I thought the devs were aight but this is genuinely insane. Dont support this ♥♥♥♥
