I got a VAC ban in Left 4 Dead 2 for using auto bhops in SINGLEPLAYER mode to test it.
I thought since there is no possible way for other people to join my game nothing bad will happen.
Turns out it doesn't matter if you play offline or online VAC detects and bans any modifications to the game, even in singleplayer.

I have never used it in any VS or scavenge mode matches to simply "win"

I'd also like to mention that in L4D1 nothing ever happend and I saw multiple people using auto bhops.
I didn't know that in literal sequel of the game you can't use it.

Unfortunately, I learned the hard way and it's my own fault for not checking if it's bannable or not so learn from other people's mistakes and don't use it ;)
