It's always "what do the numbers mean?" and never "how are the numbers feeling?" :(

Very good DLC for once that adds a lot of new and immersive features, that being said, the price is too steep imo

Ck3 has very strong foundations, beautiful graphics, better and more polished mechanics from Ck2, and a cleaner, more intuitive and friendly UI. That being said, it's a Paradox game. Shallow and bare bones at launch, and then they lock all the cool new features behind expensive DLCs.

It's quite enjoyable for the first 15ish hours, after that every game starts to feel exactly the same, same boring gameplay loop and same bland events that lead to nothing. It lacks the depth and nuance that Ck2 had.

the game looks great, gameplay is fun, story is interesting, but gets kinda repetitive after a while.
And at the time of writing (7/9/20) I cannot recommend the game in its current buggy and unbalanced state.

the lowest level cannon fodder enemies can take out like 70% of your health with one hit, and they can take a butt load of damage, despite you being much stronger, and on a higher level.

ranged enemies, like turrets, are near impossible to dodge, and they do ridiculous amounts of damage. They're pretty easy to take out, but in huge fights where you're surrounded by enemies, you can't really take the time to shoot them, meaning you'll just get slaughtered.

dodging or parrying attacks is often difficult because the effects are very unclear and kinda blend into the background.

Abilities that need recharging can be interrupted by most enemies, even your Ultimate, meaning you've just wasted the ability, and you need to wait for it to recharge. And the abilities take forever to recharge.

I've noticed some minor bugs here and there, but the major game-breaking bug I've had happen to me is bosses just randomly disappearing, meaning you can't progress further. I'm stuck on this one mission, I won't spoil it but, near the end of it, I had to fight this big 5 man team of mini-bosses, and after killing 4 of them, the last one disappeared. After I reloaded the checkpoint, I managed to kill one boss, and the rest just disappeared again.

so yeah, I recommend waiting for patches or a sale before buying.

Pros;
+ Interesting story and characters
+ Interesting setting; the Third Crusade. In my opinion, the most interesting setting AC has visited.
+ Pretty decent graphics for a game released in 2007
+ The assassinations feel very rewarding after spending quite a while investigating
+ They absolutely nailed atmosphere of the Crusades, from the dark and gloomy cities, to the ominous music and the absolute violence and brutality of the era

Neutral;
- NPC voices are too quiet and muffled
- The modern day aspects are both incredibly interesting and really boring, thankfully they aren't super long
- Stealth is very bare bones and can be described as simply as "avoid guard"
- The combat is pretty okay at first but it gets harder and harder the further you get in the game, and by the end it's just really tedious.

Cons;
-- The parkour feels very slow and is sometimes unresponsive; there are many moments where I was climbing a huge tower and Altair just leaps off for seemingly no reason
-- The pre-assassination investigations grow very boring and repetitive very quickly
-- Escaping after assassinating a target can be very hard, and often leads to you being chased around the city for a long time
-- "the Kingdom" (the hub you have to ride through everytime you have to go to another city) is too big, extremely confusing and I got lost many times.
-- Plus, the Kingdom just feels like filler since there's almost nothing to do there.

Conclusion;
An interesting concept, executed poorly. But to be fair, this was the first installment in the franchise, and they were using a brand new engine. Do I recommend this game? Yes and no. It has aged quite poorly and it feels slow and boring. But, being the first in the Assassin's Creed franchise, it's a classic, and I think Assassin's Creed fans should play it at least once. And it kinda ends with sequel bait so you kinda have to play it to understand the story in Assassin's Creed 2.

6.5/10
