The game has the potential to rob you of your final victory, quite literally 1 step away from the final door and the game says no "you are a pathetic little rich boy who cannot muster the strength to take one more step to the end of the game, go back to the beginning". The fact that the step counter does not freeze after revealing the door to room 46 is a straight up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crime.
This erroneous design choice completely robs the game of it's catharsis and takes all the wind out of the sails of your achievement. That this can happen to ANY player (as it happened to me) is an incredibly unwise decision on the part of the developer, and for that reason alone I cannot recommend this game in it's current state.

This has unfortunately soured an otherwise very pleasant game experience.
This is further stymied by the games incredibly stingy resource management and frustrating room drafting RNG. The longer you play it the more you resent it.

Excellent game, nothing else captures the magic of the playstation-gamecube era of action platformers quite like this.
Highly recommend trying out this demo and getting the full release.

I LOVE MY WIFE

An excellent callback to n64 platformers, incredibly stylish but devious in its presentation. Nice and brisk pacing too, a solid 6-8 hours. Could be beaten in one long sitting but probably shouldn't, as you'll begin to resent some of the games more unforgiving sections, there are quite a few platforming segments that are exercises in frustration. (ie: make this series of jumps perfectly or climb all the way back up and redo all of your hard work, etc) If you're looking for a retro style 3D platformer this delivers, especially if you're looking for something particularly difficult. At least the game is merciful enough to drop you back at your last checkpoint should you get a game over.

This game wants to be bioshock/halflife so badly, it had the engine and gameplay for it. But literally nothing happens the entire story and the dialogue was oddly melodramatic for concepts and ideas that are never really properly conveyed to the player even through all the scattered notes you can pick up.

It was very pretty though.
There is an interesting game here, but there is no plot and there are no characters.
maybe buy it on sale as a case study on good environment and set design.

User experience is nonexistent.
match maker does not work.
game feels more planned than actually designed.
Very disappointing.

An excellent upgrade to Risk of Rains insane formula, Highly recommended with or without friends. But playing with friends makes it so much better. An unexpected but wholly welcome release for fans of co-operative shooters and co-operative games in general.

Hollow knight was a lot better than I expected it to be, very solid metroid-vania, and challenging as hell.
