Short, Sweet & Challenging

Another masterpiece by Valve which comes with The Orange Box.

Built on the same engine as Half-Life 2, Portal doesn't fail to impress with its innovation. Portal's puzzles require you to think outside of the box. You make use of the Portal Gun which allows you to place blue and orange portals; shooting a blue portal, and then shooting a orange one will allow you to traverse through the blue portal and end up where you shot the orange portal.

The element of portals isn't that complex on its own, but many of the games puzzles require you to make use of many other testing elements like cubes, buttons, moving platforms and pellet emitters. The game has great voice acting and a great soundtrack to carry the game along.
Unlike some other puzzle games, Portal doesn't overstay its welcome, allowing you to complete the game in around two hours.

Even if you're not that mad on puzzle games, I think most would enjoy Valve's take on the genre.

The Best Zombie/Horde Shooter Ever

One of, if not my most favourite games of all time. I don't have a single bad thing to say about L4D2.

Born before the major take-off of lootcrates and micro-transactions, L4D2 is pure co-operative fun. Loveable characters, wonderful level-design, fantastic voice acting, satisfying gun-play; it's truly perfect in every way. The amount of attention to detail that goes into Valve games aren't lost on anyone, and L4D2 is no exception. 100's of voice-lines, animations and dynamic situations keep this game a blast to play to this very day.

L4D2 comes with the famous "AI Director", a scripted artificial intelligence that changes and enhances your gameplay based on how well you and your team are doing, and the current situation. Doing too well? The director will ramp up the difficulty. Struggling with that one level? After a few restarts and deaths, the AI Director actually takes pity on your team, and will be a little more forgiving going forward, spawning more guns, and triggering less random events.

The game is a blast from start to finish, bring your friends for more fun as you'll need to rely on them just as much and they will need to rely on you. There's honestly nothing to dislike. No lengthy loading screens. No weird forced XP systems. No nonsense. Just boot the game up, shoot and ask questions later.

Truly one of the best games I have ever played, and still do play. There's just nothing like it, and I love it. Oh, and it also has Steam Workshop support, allowing for 1000's upon 1000's of mods. You can modify and change the game to your heart's content.

A True Staple of Gaming
if you havent played this game already... what are you doing!?

Half-Life 2 is probably one of the best and most important games ever made, and it's very clear why. With the Source Engine, Valve created a masterpiece that their later game titles also run on.

A genre-defining FPS shooter with complex AI, fantastic writing and epic physics — there's truly nothing to dislike with HL2, which is why it's loved by many and has gone down in history as one of the best games ever.

Something For Everyone

To preface, I never played the original "GMod Tower" gamemode on Garry's Mod where this game originated from, so it holds no nostalgic value to me.

Whilst the game is in early access, it has something for everyone. From shooting games, racing, quizes, casino and arcade, this game is a great time-waster to boot up when you have nothing else to play, and to relax and chill out with friends.
Tower Unite could also be compared to VRChat, as they have very similar player demographics with that "social focus" — players can essentially create their own "map" called a Condo, this is their own "instance" of the game where they can place down items they have bought in the games plaza.

The "Condo" feature is easily my favourite aspect of this game, due to how creative you can be. I don't even play the game for its main "minigame" features, I just play the game for the Condos mainly.

I can't 100% say if Tower Unite is worth it, as it's one of those games that I feel is an "acquired taste", I'd recommend going into it with friends.
The game doesn't have lots of content due to its Early Access tag, and I feel that alone could scare off potential buyers, as this game has been in Early Access for quite a while now (though development does seem to be somewhat steady)!

Though as I said, it's a nice time-waster if you like games like that.

Great For Socialising

A rather simple but effective social game for those with (and without) VR headsets. It's a rather simple game, where there's no goals or missions; you just chat to other players whilst interacting with 3D environments.

It's a harmless game itself, but just like the internet, you never know who you'll come across.

Very Charming. Interesting Mechanics.

To preface this, I grew up playing the classic 2D Sonic games. I never gave 3D Sonic much of a chance, but this game truly is very charming, interesting, though a tad bit frustrating at times.
I played the default remaster of the game with a controller, so I'm not sure if my experience could have been better in some way.

I had quite a bit of trouble with the controls throughout the game which did make some of the levels a little annoying to get through — there didn't seem to be any kind of "progression" with the joystick, if you moved it slighlty, it would act as if you moved it all the way, causing Sonic to dart his position instantly. This made platforming in some of the later levels quite challenging.

The game itself is quite a spectacle. There's voice acting and cutscenes; granted, they don't look the best in today's day and age, but it think that all adds to the humbling experience.
You can play as multiple characters each run, which lets you see the side of the plot from their point-of-view. Characters have their own arcs and storyline all mixed in with new gameplay and upgrades which further enhance the game.

Rather Lazy and Boring. Forgettable.

I'll start off by saying that I know it's a spin-off, but the game itself is nothing to write home about. Lazy writing, annoying characters and (even more) insane plot.

For fans of the older Saints Row games (1, 2), there's no enjoyment to be found here. GOOH is essentially a reskin of many of Saints Row 4's features on a new map with some new characters mixed in. You can play as either Johnny Gat, or Kinzie Kensington — both of which are transported to "hell" via a portal the gang opened up on their ship during the Boss' birthday (I'd go on but the story is so insane I can't be asked to try and describe it).

On the new map, you're tasked with doing very repetitive missions to "save" the Boss. The gameplay is very boring, though there is a new "flying" mechanic which is quite similar to the glide superpower in SR4. Some new animations here and there. Did I mention this is also a musical?

You meet some old characters, from Saints Row 2 mainly, which is why this title is quite insulting to new players. In one side-mission, you kill a character from Saints Row 1 that you've been hunting ever since, but he dies like any other NPC, there's no dialogue, no reasoning, you just end the arc like that. I should also mention that all the generic NPCs in the game are weird ghoul-type creatures, so he looks like one of them with a hat on.

Honestly, it's overall just a disappointment.

Simple and Timeless

One of those "must have" game collections. Has many of the old SEGA classics, and more on the Steam Workshop, though I'm not 100% sure on the legalities of that!

It even comes with a cool "room" space where you can navigate a fully-modelled 3D bedroom and play the games in — a very nice interactive touch. Obviously, it comes built-in with its own Genesis/Megadrive emulator to play the games on.
The emulator isn't 100% perfect, but it works and gets the job done.

What's not to like?
