Probably the last good total war game ever made. Warhammers are pretty lackluster at this point and the investments that the developer takes seem to heavily influence how and what games they make next.

This game in Empire Total War aren't without flaws though as both struggle with the new engine that they released to perform certain tasks they're very poor at handling any sort of cavalry charge the AI when it comes to it messes up I can't keep the formation right, And it's often a struggle to have units on any sort of wall. Which are two massive components to this game in the real time battles.

I think this game is also missing some scale too they did simplify the campaign map on the grain campaign so that there is very few provinces in Italy and everywhere else too but I think they are missing the mark by performing this instead of doing what say Europa Universalis does and makes it so that each country is like playing a game within their own sphere of influence and then once they condense that area they move on to the world stage to start performing actions.

They've thoroughly milked people for their money off of the Warhammer licensing for this engine though and I think it's probably time for them to get a new one and I'm hoping that they'll be back to their standard glory days once they get rid of this engine

The modding community is very healthy for this came in the gameplay is pretty great the only thing is that I cannot recommend it personally because Bohemia is not updating the game anywhere near as frequently as they should. There are core features missing from the game that are a requirement in today's age. Auto queuing is one, the mod manager Is lackluster still (they finally gave us a delete all button after begging because the game corrupts your entire mod library sometimes, woo!) and generally a pretty limp squad system.

There are game-breaking bugs that still exist that have not been addressed in years and it's getting to the point of where it's unforgivable. They only release an update for this game when they do a very small content update and that is it. There's no hot fixes,or balance updates and I understand that they're working on arma 4 but this is still laughably slow. The multiplayer mode is also not even a skeleton there's so much content changes that need to be made and added before this becomes functional other than just a proof of concept and they have done zero to address it.

It's quite literally you walk into a flag cap it and then it's yours and you can build a base on it there's no connection of these bases to the economy of the supply system in the game the whole game relies on you to drive repeatedly to these bases to fill them up. They make no effort to address this just like previous arma games, But I think the community needs to stop giving them a pass and letting them rely on the mod community to give us something usable.

Arma now has a full development team of experienced people in a very good engine that's brand new and this game is no longer a content update of Operation Flashpoint every iteration. There's no reason that they can't develop a very structured multiplayer mode or a few at least other than a death match and a very rudimentary flag cap system.

This game is a very obvious attempt to gain capital by releasing a very small amount of content and a proof of concept example of Arma 4 which I don't disagree with but with how they're treating the customer base that are essentially early investors in Arma 4 for it's pretty ridiculous it also kind of feels like they see us as simply potential capital and not something to build their brand and their reputation on and they treat us as such

Therefore I will say do not buy this until they consistently begin updating it or the game becomes relatively bug free And making some balance changes I would say avoid it unless you're a die-hard fan of the Arma franchise. I think that for this development team to make amends with the community they need to make some serious changes to how they update this game and promise in the future that they're going to make some more promising changes to the game to make it function better, Their little development window Leave way too much content unpromised and the game itself too skinny for it to be worth the price they charge.

edit: there has been a patch, which has left many bugs still existing, but now there is a new bug where you lose color from your screen and have to edit your video sliders to return the colors every 5-10 minutes. This will be another bug that exists for months.

its like a worse helldivers 2, but is still fun. 60$ price tag is VERY ROUGH when you can get helldivers for much less though.

man, this game plays like a clunky ps2 game from back in the day, with a worse story and pay 2 win/play mechanics. its weird that nexon had a really good game out of the gundam one but spent zero effort on it after release, then go hard on crap like this.

i enjoyed it, i think elements that they bring from the first game arent really translating as well since the scale of this game is a tiny bit bigger. managing a country gets harder and harder because your capped at a certain number of advisors, even the trailer reference "a dozen armies" but lol you can have only 9, and typically 8 if you sacrifice your merchants and diplomats to have all marshals.

glad they expanded buildings a bit but i think the next one needs to have another take on this advisor system.

Early Access Review
this game is so behind on development in terms of vr shooters its crazy. this was the go to back in the day but now id just say get pavlov. pavlov has so much more in terms of modes, features and just general polish that this game just looks like a mess in comparison.

I like this little roguelite, but there's a lot of things that Id change as its potential seems wasted to be fit into a roguelite format. This game should straight up be a freelancer-like space game with a trade system with factions, and free-form gameplay on top of the crew-based combat. Would take a bit longer to dev but I feel like it would be perfect for it. Hopefully, a space crew 2 comes.

fun game, laughably bad executive moves to control the team in charge of development, leading them to be entirely sacked from the games development despite its success and critical acclaim. the dev team did everything they wanted, including releasing unrealistic money grab dlc appearance packages that sold pretty well and STILL got sacked.

the corporation that ran it (saber interactive) is just a band of suits who buy games that are undervalued and squeeze them for all the money they can get out of the IP, i beg you people to stop buying games from them, they need to go bankrupt and leave the game ip industry and go mess around in real-world trades instead of ruining peoples enjoyment outside of that.

I like how they put all their reviews in the trailer from just about every shill review company on the internet, and yes, while the game has improved, the game is still flawed at the ground level in concept. This game will go down as a textbook example of why an executive/salesman should never be assigning game design tasks, and also an example of why people should step down when they have been in management/leadership for so long they have become so detached from game design and their target community that they are fundamentally missing why people played their games in the first place.

The only way they can correct course on this former money maker is to do a complete reboot of the franchise, get rid of the EA management and get back to the basics, but I think pride and ego will keep them trying to spin tires on the same gameplay loops and ultimately cause the company to fail. I wish I could see any other way out of this, but they somehow also managed to ruin their other massive seller (the sims) so, I wouldn't expect much.
