Gameplay, story, and visuals are all nearly flawless. This is one if the best games I’ve ever played. It feels like a genre defining moment.

As an Elden Ring new-gen, I wanted to go through Fromsoft's older titles starting with DS1, and it did not disappoint. Compared to open-world, the more curated and linear progression was a great change of pace, and was served well by the great level design. The map interconnects in very interesting ways that makes progression very natural without a whole lot of backtracking. The boss fights were all great as well although a little too easy at times.

From a long time Overwatch player, this game does a lot of things very well, and I think it will last as a mainstay in the genre of hero shooters.

The design philosophy of the hero kits stands out to me as an aspect of the game that Marvel Rivals does much better than Overwatch. Even the worst hero designs in this game do not come close to the annoyance level of Overwatch's worst offenders like Roadhog, Hanzo, Junkrat, ect.

The team-up ability system is a very interesting idea that introduces another level of strategy to consider when forming a team comp.

My favorite addition is definitely the hero bans in Diamond+, as it allows your team to have much more control over the match and acts as a balance factor to pull back the influence of overtuned characters in the meta.

The biggest point where the game falls short is definitely Map design. The maps in Rivals can be very claustrophobic and have very tight choke points. The movable components of certain maps can be quite annoying to deal with, especially on Hell's Heaven where the team that captures the point first causes many sight lines and angles of attack to become more closed off to the retaking team, giving a big defenders advantage.

Great DLC. The boss fights here are the best in the game besides one or two. Messmer fight is peak. Performance is pretty rough in some places unfortunately.

This game really had a lot going for it, and still continues to do a lot of things well, but as of Season 3, the core gameplay has become more frustrating than fun.

I never really took this game too seriously from a competitive standpoint, but near the end of season 2, the devs made the decision to get rid of unranked tournaments leaving only competitive ranked left. Cashout is not a mode that really makes sense in a competitive environment. There are a lot of random elements that impact the outcome of a match much more than any form of skill expression. As you climb the ranks it becomes much less about which team was the better team and more about who got screwed over less by RNG.

There have been countless times where i have been faced with impossible retakes, winning a teamfight that was close only to get third partied by a team that just showed up to the objective, and teams with barely any kills winning the round because the fighting was concentrated around the other cashout all game.

All of these issues are fine when there are less stakes and people are just playing for fun with less optimized class loadouts, but in competitive these issues get turned up about 10 times when people are sweating, leading to a very frustrating experience. The format of the gamemode lends itself to many situations where you are gatekept from wining by another team that is also losing who for whatever reason are just trying to drag you down with them.

The additions of season 3 were also extremely questionable. They have added a lot of gimmicky melee weapons that are both boring to use and frustrating to play against, and a chain hook to the heavy class that is very uninteractive and gives you little agency in terms of being able to outplay potential.

They've also tried to push this tac shooter like mode that just doesn't work well at all with the map layouts and physics.

Im really not sure why these decisions are being made, in a lot of other areas such as monetization and cosmetics the developers seem to be very aware of how they can do better than their competitors in the genre, but the gameplay itself really just isn’t meeting the mark for me right now as much as it was during the beta.

The movement and gunplay feel really nice so I hope they can figure some of the issues out before the game loses its playerbase.

Game is fixed. Perk system is great, and all new heroes from 2024 onward have been bangers. With hero bans and map voting coming soon I'd say the game has finally earned the '2'.

Extremely fun and replayable. Really disappointing that the devs decided to sell the franchise. Would have loved to see more expansions.

Early Access Review
Stuck in Early Access hell, most games are a buggy mess. Dev increased price after promising that he wouldn't. Community is full of furries and nazis. Might be better on release if it ever happens.

Minigolf is fun tho

Base game was my favortite mmorpg of all time. The NGS expansion took out everything enjoyable from the classic game, over-simplified the combat, and removed all of the high apm classes. Still recommend new players try out the base game for the great boss raids, but don't expect any new content. I would avoid NGS, grinding is very repetitive and loot and gearing is very overly simplified. Lacks any real end game content.
