This game is more long winded than a Kevin Smith movie, but it manages to be really funny a lot of the time. I'm pretty impressed by the voice acting. Though there isn't a lot of actual interactivity like a lot of point and click adventure games would, this is very much like watching a TV show or movie so I can only recommend it to those who like that sort of thing, but I had a good time.

I understand the game's flaws, and the fact its not really breaking new ground as a looter shooter, but I'm enjoying this game quite a bit and I find the story to be engaging enough that its grabbed me more than previous games of the same genre. I look forward to playing this game when I've been bored of gaming in general, which stands out to me. The weirdest thing I find about most of the other negatively rated reviews is that they all have dozens of hours of play time, yet they can't recommend it. Maybe it's just better than the sum of its parts and most people will actually enjoy it despite the flaws.

Disclaimer, I don't recommend playing this game solo and I can't speak on game breaking bugs because I haven't personally encountered them.

It's still not the same game as it was advertised when it first came out, but it's evolved to be better than the original idea. Added multiplayer makes it easy to jump in with friends and the ever growing list of things to do in each free update like space combat, base building, derelict ship exploring, and so on extend the life of the game significantly. The recent Origins update finally gave the game MUCH needed improvements to graphical fidelity and planet diversity. One of the best game development redemption stories.

An FPS with a good balance between linearity and open world mechanics, along side a well fleshed out universe and thought provoking story.

For someone who had as little interest in the almaverse as I did, I'll be the first to admit that this game is a ton of fun. Co-op is the way to go, so don't play it single player if you can avoid it. The multiplayer modes are alright as well, even if it is a little derivative.
