Another amazing FromSoft product. Like the other "souls like" games truly a gem amongst the gaming industry as of right now. Cannot recommend this game enough.

The additional patches along with the 2.0 and 2.1 update have completely remade the game. I would say, especially given the story, this game is an easy recommend and must play for fans of RPG games.

Pre Xen: I am no stranger to the Half-Life series as evident by my profile and gametimes on all 6 of the currently released games. I love this series, and it holds a dear place in my heart as THE FIRST game I have ever played. With that being said, let's get into this review.

Black Mesa Inbound
The beginning tram ride brought back waves of nostalgia and wonder that I haven't felt since my original time on Half Life over 12 years ago. As your character rides a large tram throughout the Black Mesa complex, you can see how much the new game engine complements these environments. The lighting, textures, and dust particles all fit in seamlessly to make the experience both daunting, but inviting.

Anomalous Materials
The layout for this complex remains relatively the same, with a few added corridors and the occasional room. Getting the HEV suit for the first time is still an awesome experience along with the added Easter eggs/achievements that line the locker room and the dining area. We are even introduced to some characters who have appeared in the older installments of Half Life (2, Episode 1 and 2) who are welcome additions to the game. The main test chamber is expansive and reacher high into the air, the large "lazer" that stands in the middle of the room made me stand in awe. The new lighting affects (Especially ones from the beta) compliment this room, especially when we finally push the large crystal into the machine, triggering some Unforeseen Consequences....

Unforeseen Consequences
Seeing the Black Mesa complex in ruins after the resonance cascade is great, and it captures the original chaos and helplessness of the original. Especially whenever that elevator came crashing down after I pushed the button, that was AMAZING . This section is also where we receive our firsts weapons, our trusty crowbar and pistol. The both, work as they did in the original game, with newer models/textures/animations that compliment them greatly.

Office Complex
The office sections got a much needed graphical overhaul, making the game look as if it was used by a group of scientists, it looks lived in, and the chaos caused by the invading Xen creatures is done extremely well. Unfortunately, this environment gets much worse, as a new foe steps in.

“WE’VE GOT HOSTILES!’
The military in this game are done great! Gone is the annoying scratchy voice of soldiers and welcomed is the human, non gravely, voices of soldiers coming to clean up the science crew. This section is also the first point where we are introduced to the outdoors, with its luscious red rocky environment and large attack ships which quickly usure us underground to safety from the onslaught of bullets, mortar, and explosives.

Blast Pit
THE TENTACLES ARE AWESOME! This was always a tedious section in my eyes but the new models and sounds made by these large Japanese fetish like beasts is amazing. The clanking as they slam their large battleaxe like noses on the metal flooring and the groans and moans they made as the rocket was test fired, eventually melting them into a fine nothing was great. The section with the radiation is also very well done, the large fan churning this goop around is really nice looking and the “white noise” on the screen as you get closer and closer to this goop is cool.

Power Up
This remains the same as its HL1 counterpart aside from some graphical enhancements and a few differently designed environments.

On a Rail
This section makes the original Blast Pit chapter look like the best thing since sliced bread. On a Rail has always been a boring chapter in my eyes, luckily the developers realized this too and kept this chapter extremely short, getting us onto the more interesting sections like shooting off the rocket and killing the Ichthyosaur with the crossbow.

Apprehension
Again, this section is much like its HL1 counterpart. Aside from the Black Ops Spies (Which are extremely annoying haha), the level plays like the original.

Residue Processing
Seeing a pattern? This map plays the same to its HL1 counterpart, aside from some of the puzzles being slightly different, along with certain mine traps being really hard to disarm.

Questionable Ethics
This is most likely my favorite chapter so far. The tests are really enjoyable to do, and the new Tau Cannon is beautiful.

Surface Tension
FINALLY! The outside! The outside areas are beautiful, and it really captures the feeling of being in a hot, dry, mountainous mesa. The helicopter is also present here and it’s a fun little boss battle.

“FORGET ABOUT FREEMAN!”
More time in the outdoors. More environments created around the outer Black Mesa complex. The Xen invasion is in full force and both the military, scientists, security guards, and you; Gordon Freeman are in danger from these alien menaces.

Lambda Core
The final chapter currently in the game. It plays like the original, except in the last segment which really beefs up the teleporter, making it look like a behemoth of technology. After fighting off the creatures of the Nihilanth, the portal opens, and your character jumps into it.

I can definitely recommend this game for the experience it has given me so far. This is OUR Half-Life 3.

Early Access Review
Spent 45 minutes without contact with a single player, down to 9 players left and I get head shotted by a kar from the distance.

Can't recommend this game. From the watered down RPG elements, to Bethesda's "Creation Club" it just shows that this wasn't a carefully created project for Fallout fans but a way to make a quick buck from a community craving a new game. I would suggest any of the older Fallout games. Fallout New Vegas for the best overall experience (Gunplay, story, etc.) or Fallout 1 or 2 for the BEST story and plenty of choices.

I figured I would get the spy knife now just in case they removed it. Game is pretty clearly "F2P" though.

This DLC is probably one of, if not THE BEST DLC I have ever played. From the atmosphere to the added weaponry to the story, this DLC has it all. From the starting moment defending Far Harbor, to exploring the land running away from giant Salamanders or huge hulking Mirelurks you will never get bored from exploring the land scape! Now, let's get into the review.

Landscape and enemies
The swamps and marshes of Far Harbor are a great landscape to explore. It gives me nostalgia trips on exploring Point Lookout, and the wonderful fog that shrouds the landscape is a good plot point and obstacle for players to deal with and enjoy. The creatures are very varied and I enjoyed being frightened by the Fog Crawlers or overwelmed by Gulpers. The trappers were a good plot point and reminded me of the Swampfolk from Point Lookout. The enemies and landscape definetly are a 9/10!

Story
This story is a good one. The 3 factions each have their own likable traits and the good and evil factions are clear. Far Harbor is the faction of human fishermen and survivors. They are at odds with the Children of Atom who are religious fanatics who worship Atom. Finally there are the synths of Acadia who just want everything to be peaceful and happy. The story consists of your player trying to help the faction of the players choice and complete their goals. That's all I can mention without getting to deep into the story. 8.5/10!

Final Notes
I loved this DLC. It's probably the best Fallout DLC I have ever played. Near the end of the story one of the characters brings up a very good question.
DiMA near the end of my playthrough had found out the murders and evils he has commited, but after being told what he did wrong he tried to say how he should be exempt from what he did because he didn't realize, but that's the problem, synths try to become humans, but whenever they need to take up for their human faults, they fall short. Thats why I'm glad DiMA got his fate of death, because in order for synths to be treated as humans, they have to have consequences that a human would.

This DLC is extremely good. I would recommend anyone with an urge to buy a DLC to buy this one. 10/10

After about an hour it becomes boring. Wouldn't recommend.
