This game is a good bit of fun with a really rough launch.

Does the FPS suck? Yeah it's pretty bad. They already released a news post about fixing it. I am sick of games releasing in terrible states, but sadly that is how most "triple A" games are these days. I recommend that if you don't have the patience for a poorly optimized game then definitely wait on this one.

Is $70 too much for a game? Absolutely, but that is a problem with the entire industry.

There are some other minor issues and questionable game design choices like:
-Monsters running away too often.
-The insane decision to not allow you to bind mouse thumb buttons (PLEASE CHANGE I BEG YOU)
-Slow and confusing UI in some places.
-A lack of explanation on certain mechanics.
-The telegraphing on certain monster attacks does not feel great, and the massive size of certain monsters exacerbates this.

These "issues" or game designs bother me more than the FPS honestly, and I hope they work on these after the FPS is fixed.

Past those issues however is a really solid and unique addition to the sparse monster hunting genre:
-Karakuri's are VERY FUN and fluid to engage with in combat.
-I've only seen a small fraction of the monsters, but they are all interesting and unique so far.
-The world and especially the character's are beautiful although the full impact is hard to appreciate with the launch FPS issues.
-The open world is fun to explore and it feels really cool to make permanent camps and structures.
-YOU CAN PROGRESS YOUR STORY MISSIONS WITH YOUR CO-OP PARTNERS.
-The weapon and armor upgrade systems are really interesting and unique!
-The weapons are all very fun and are either completely original or have unique twists compared to similar weapons in other games.

There are a lot of other neat little features and I can't explain every one, but truly they did a good job making their own unique monster hunting game without copying too much from the big kid on the block.

I look forward to the improvements the team can make to the game, and I recommend it to monster hunting fans who are patient enough to look past the issues to appreciate the core experience of the game.

The best ARPG available. The game feels completely fresh every 3 months. Thousands of unique builds to play and there is always something you can work towards to improve your character. Fun for casual play but with a huge learning curve to improve your play and take on greater endgame challenges if you want to. I still learn new things all the time after 1000 hours of play. Definitely can be challenging to learn at first, but it is well worth your time.
