TL;DR Review:

Graphics: 9/10

Performance: 8/10

Animation: 10/10

Gun work: 10/10

Enemies: 10/10

Boss Fights: 7/10

General: 9/10

THOROUGH Review:

GRAPHICS: The graphics are as always in RE games, phenomenal, with the added capabilities of RTX and FSR support, the game looks better than ever and it feels immersive, despite the texture bugs that you are bound to face in this game that I assume will be fixed, the game keeps an amazing level of graphical fidelity, that stays in touch with most 2023 games. The RE engine continues to be a remarkable engine capable of amazing visuals that do not disappoint.

PERFORMANCE: The game has performance issues, that is true. It crashes sometimes with the use of RTX, and in some parts it can dip as low as 25 fps, sometimes it just does this randomly, but Capcom patched RE Village about a week after release, so I am hoping that performance, along with some other visual bugs will be fixed in the coming days. Other than those dips, the game performs relatively well, with RTX off and everything set to high, majority of the time I am playing at 60 fps or above on an RTX 2060, and my friend who played on a GTX 1650, played low-medium settings with the same results, so for the better parts of the game, it runs relatively well.

ANIMATION: This game has the best animation of any Resident Evil game to date, it is fluent, smooth, and proper. The cutscenes have well done facial animations and the newly added hair strands feature make it all the better. The animation since RE7 has stepped up astronomically and I feel will continue to keep getting better as Resident Evil games progress, that being said, the fluent animations do not hold the gameplay back in any way as some might say, the game all the same still feels very responsive in parrying and movement. All around, very well done animation.

GUN WORK: The upgrades feel relevant from the merchant, and every weapon has an exclusive upgrade and ability that makes it special from all the rest, your loadout can be completely different from someone else's, You could focus on headshot damage with the Red9 while someone else uses the Punisher to decimate 5 enemies at once with a single bullet, or you want to stun with the SG-09 R to get your melee kicks in, every gun has a purpose and specific ability that sets it different from all the rest, and it gives breathing room for multiple different loadouts.

ENEMIES: The enemies are intelligent, aggressive, and a genuine challenge, and you always have a way to overcome them, whether it be parrying with your knife perfectly to kick them and create a sense of crowd control, or blasting them away with your Striker, every enemy can be overcome with the right tools, and the right amount of thinking. The enemies are faithful to the original, while also having improvements to make them so much better.

BOSS FIGHTS: While these are also faithful, I feel like they should have been changed more because they were a little TOO easy, some fights felt so short lived and it just left a bitter taste in your mouth, The Krauser fights were fun but nothing too special, it’s all really more of the same. Again this is just my opinion but at the end of the day I think where this game really felt weakest, were its boss fights.

GENERAL: As a remake, this game is incredibly faithful with the right balance of change, it is fun, re-playable, and easily the longest RE game to date, it is it has an amazing Action-horror atmosphere that combats its predecessor, and is a major upgrade in multiple different ways, so in general I will give this game a 9/10, I highly recommend this to newcomers, and OG fans alike if you’re looking for a well grounded fun experience.

BONUS
The Merchant: Merchant is love, Merchant is life, Merchant is good, Merchant is great.

There is absolutely no reason for any game to run poorly on any RTX card like this in 2022...8 fps dips...
