It has the best part of city building games with none of the drawbacks.

Your towns are finished before they grow too large and tedious, mechanics are simplified (inputs and outputs are very clear and concise, villagers just need to rest at your hearth once in a while) making it very predictable and straight forward.

The roguelite elements really spice things up and it works great, forcing players to not rely on the same strategy every time.

If undertale's goal is to make the player develop bonds with characters confined in their worlds, then oneshot is about bringing a character from that world into your own.
