iron storm is exactly what I look for in a game. it's fast, it's difficult and generally avoids holding your hand, all with a nice dieselpunk theme. play it on realistic difficulty.

if you love half-life 1 or condition zero deleted scenes on hard, iron storm will make you feel right at home with its very similar feel. on realistic difficulty enemies deal the same amount of damage that you do, which with the game's weapon selection is usually a lot, and they share your will to survive — enemy AI will hold off, they'll run away, they'll rush you, they'll camp you out, they'll flank you, sometimes all in one life. they also know how to shoot heads, so you'll often find yourself running around with no health and savescumming, or having to try and outsmart the AI by using different approaches from what the game probably expects.

the game provides you with information about your surroundings in the form of consoles that are dotted around levels, you can interact with them and they'll give you some written information about dangers up ahead or goodies you can find. if you can't remember something a console's told you, you can read it again in the messages menu. dialogue is also worth listening to for info, if you end up lost or confused it's because you didn't pay attention to consoles, dialogue, or the literal signposts that tell you where you are.

overall iron storm is paced well and it's easy to figure out unless you're willfully obtuse, but everything else is hard and you will learn to ḟucking like it. you get what you give.

there's also a multiplayer. it's not much, just deathmatch and CTF, but it's worth looking at if you can find anyone to play with

when you read the game's encyclopedia entries and mission briefings, they give you an idea of what to do and how, but leave you to fill in the gaps. as such, you are forced to use your reading comprehension and observational skills to work out how to complete each objective. this makes B.C. Piezophile something called a puzzle game; lacking comprehensive skills and/or cognitive abilities will result in failing to understand mechanics, struggling with movement, failing to navigate menus, quitting after 10 minutes, and leaving negative reviews

this game was made to filter out braindead critics from ones that are worth listening to

plays surprisingly legit despite presenting itself as a joke game

on a core level it's a big improvement over wreckfest 1 so far, specifically in terms of how the physics feel
even in its current state it runs smooth at high-ish settings on i5-8400 & gtx 1070 ti, chances are you have something far better so your performance should be alright
will be interesting to watch this game grow; i especially want to see modding tools. just don't load it up the ass with DLCs
