Kind of sits in the intersection of my mind where Fallout New Vegas, Quake, and Morrowind might meet. Lots of secrets, smooth and very fast movement when using certain equipment and spells, great choice dilemmas all the way through the game.

Titanfall 2 with the movement and gun play dials turned past 11 and story turned to 1, which is just fine. What a game.

Hollowbody is a solo developed survival action adventure in the sci-fi horror genre where a young woman crash lands in an abandoned British tenement block looking for someone dear to her. The game sets itself up really well and hits all the tropes of a classic Sony PlayStation 2 game of the same format. Pulled back camera that sometimes is in a fixed position, scarce resources making you think about when is best to fight or flee, puzzle items to find and figure out how to use to progress, hard stencil shadows and lower polygon count models. The soundscape thrums against the ear in the best way, setting the right mood at all times. Combat feels imprecise at times. I wasn't ever really sure how close I needed to be to score a melee hit and sometimes the targetting didn't go where I needed it to for gunshots, but when they land its quite satisfying, the groans and moans and cries of the creatures unnerving me every time.

The story and bits of stories scattered over the game feel very sentimental, laser focused on the well being of family and loved ones during hard times. All the logs are stories of families struggling against change, perfectly preventable change, but forced against their will. Its a short and sweet experience, well worth the price. I think fans of survival action adventure horror will feel at home with this one.

I'll try new game+ with the first person "dungeoner" mode next spooky season for sure.

With 1.0 launched and played more and tooled around a bit I can say that this game is a great successor to the Nintendo Wars line of games. The tutorial is a good introduction. The interface is unified across every device, which is to say that you can buy the game here, play a bit, go to the game's main site on your phone or tablet on a chromium browser, and download the game as a browser app and continue your game immediately.

Levels load and unload immediately and the UI is very slick but it does take some getting used to. So many great games out there now and this one is definitely worth giving attention to. Would recommend.

Do you like 640x480 resolution graphics with good blood sprays and punch shooting? Do you like slower dungeon crawly gameplay? Controls might feel unusual but they're snappy.

Give this a go. Its cool.

This is scratching the itch that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 left behind 13 years ago. The learning curve here might be steep for some but enjoying it while losing is probably the best advice I can give.

Its hard to be mad when you lost because someone leveled a whole building on top of you.
