One of the best improvements on the survivor formula.

Best game I don't understand and I have yet to put much more time into.
And probably my favorite art-style of all time.

Relatively hard to learn and extremely hard to master physics-based combat with a learning curve that is as curvy as your hits will be.

It is a fun and unique but frustrating game.

I highly recommend checking out the arena mode for it is fantastically awesome.
As said by several other people, it has solid steady progression, interesting modes, events and lastly rewarding tournaments.

tl;dr: hard to learn and frustrating game with physics-based combat where I'd highly recommend to check out the arena mode mainly.

When I first played it, I did not expect much but it was a great game.
It was still in development but now as of 8/8/2022, the game has been out for about 4 years (released 21 Sep. 2018) and I can only say that it is alive and kicking.

The game in a 16-bit old-Nintendo-games style which gives a lot of charm.
One of my favorite RPGs that I need to play much more since its release (and I will need to buy that DLC [CrossCode: A New Home]).
I remember the combat to be pretty easy to get a handle on but very rewarding to learn thoroughly. I love the customization too.
The story and narrative are really good for that kind of game, don't underestimate it!
And last but not least, that OST is perfection incarnate!

N.B.: as pointed out by several comrades, the game contains unskippable puzzles: if that bothers you, you can still check for their solutions online or in guides IINM.

tl;dr: awesome 16-bit old-FF-like style with customizable loadout, easy to learn and hard to master combat, one of the best stories and perfect OST!
What's more, I'd say: "go for it comrade if that picked your interest!"

Good old Beat'em'all Valve game, I remember playing it for a while when I started back then.

Nowadays, I think you should consider to play Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop which is a fan game based on that one but is continuously updated.

Here is a lot of pros that makes it better than this one:
- A lot more campaigns
- A Deathmatch mode (and team death match with a console command (basically pvp almost noone plays)
- More weapons and offhand items
- A Steam Workshop
- More active players

tl;dr: really old Steam game where you should consider to check out the fan updated version

N.B.: here is the link to the *new* one https://test-steamproxy.haloskins.io/steamstore/app/563560/Alien_Swarm_Reactive_Drop/

One of my first ever Steam games, I remember I became premium thanks to Team Fortress 2.
TF2 -- as colloquially called by gamers -- has always been a great F2P game to start on Steam.

I recommend it to anyone who even remotely likes FPS since it's free, accessible and pretty straightforward to anyone who knows how to read.

Lastly, there's been a cheater and bot issue but you can mainly votekick them if there were to be one in your game and there are always more servers whenever that's not enough.

tl;dr: awesome and accessible FPS game to start off on Steam that is currently being attacked by bots and cheaters but we truly that will be helped in the future.
