This is an absolutely stunning story.

Yes, story -- it's not so much a game as it is a story... the story of What Remains of Edith Finch. Sure, there are some gamelike sections, but generally, they are there to compliment the story.

The ART in this game is GORGEOUS and the first person style really, really calls for a VR version of the game. I hope there will be one in the works at some point, either of this story or another by Annapurna. If they continue to write games like this, VR should definitely be considered.

For all intents and purposes, this is a walking simulator with a few small puzzles to solve. Don't expect action or killing anyone -- you're not going to do it.

And, YES, it is worth it. Every penny. I'd even not wait til it was on sale so you can support these developers and they can make more beautiful work.

First of all, this ngame didn't really scare me or gross me out. I've played Outlast and I feel like I've seen it all.

That being said, don't ski the game because it might not scare you. It's one of the only games on Steam that provide a horror atmosphere AND a decent storyline. Sure, the characters tend to be a little 2D at times, but that's because there's a bit more action going on than talking. I think the creators tried to clear up some of that with the first two DLCs (which are DEFINITELY worth getting as well). It gives you the whole story instead of leaving huge ass gaps in the plot. There may be a few left over when you're done with the game AND the DLCs, but they're more inconsequential than anything.

I have enjoyed the hell out of this game. No real jump scares, but that's fine -- I've enjoyed trying to figure out what actually was going on. And with that ending... I expect there to be a second one at some point.

Ok, honestly, I was skeptical at first. After all, I had read the negative reviews (as I tend to do) and I was worried about the whole Fight With Light stuff. Plus it's Microsoft, right?

After playing and beating both the game and the specials, I can seriously say that I enjoyed every minute of it. The story was fantastic -- as a writer myself, I found I could relate to Wake more than I could other main characters in other games.

The gameplay didn't feel as though I had to chase down what I needed from one side of the town to the next, like some games do. Everything was pretty much in the same area although I had to go looking sometimes. None of the "puzzles" were extremely hard -- of course, I played on "casual" mode because I'm still kinda new to the realm of shooting games, so I'd imagine that there would be more "bad guys" to kill rather than more difficult puzzles.

Driving a car sucked -- I wish they'd have let you use the moiuse to control it rather than the keyboard options but once I got used to it, it was... meh, okay.

Definitely would recommend checking this out if you like a story-rich game. Alan narrates a lot of it and you can read his manuscript pages as you find them to get more insight as to what's going on.

BUY THIS -- AND BUY ALL CHAPTERS RIGHT NOW, WHETHER ON SALE OR NOT.

This is beautifully crafted and thought out -- the story is great!

Now if they'd just be quick about Episode 6 -- I can't wait!

This is a FANTASTIC game -- if only for the atomosphere alone.

To me, the storyline could be a bit more clear, but that's okay because I expect to learn more in Episode 2 when it's released.

Love the similarities to "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" -- but don't think that just by not looking at the spectres that they're going to overlook you. I wouldn't say it was too close to the storyline through.

I loved the music -- but then I turned it down, because in a game like this, to be able to hear every footfall is important.

Sure, it was bloody and gory, but not nearly as bad as Outlast (which probably goes for most games :) )

The length of play was extremely surprising for being an episodic game. Took me a few days to finish and some of the puzzles were quite challenging. I'd go look up a hint and go "OHHHH" because the answer had been staring at me in the face all the time.

I would like to see MORE of the ghosts in the game though. I figured out I could hide from them early on and then they'd go away so I didn't have to deal with them as much.

I would ultimately give this game an 8/10, taking 2 off just because I wanted more monsters :)

DEFINITELY BUY THIS GAME and then leave a review so the devs know there's a dri8ve for an Episode 2!
