The first mirror's edge had a way better artsyle and story (less angsty and more impactful plotlines and characters). Turning it into an open world game is kind of a neat concept but pretty meh in implementation.

This game overall is still good at least. Both are worth playing, it's unique feeling and the parkouring is generally a great time.

Also obligatory Origin sucks and causes a lot of issues launching the game, ymmv.

Gameplay-wise I don't understand why they completely removed guns in the sequel, having just a few shots from a picked up gun added some variety to the combat that was missing here.

Running mechanics are a lot smoother in catalyst which is nice but some of the controls are finicky for fighting, rolling, wall-running.

Better than the sequel/reboot. Better artstyle and feels just like a more focused game in general in terms of design, catalyst feels a lot more like it was developed by committee.

It doesn't overstay its welcome and is worth the ~10 hours of campaign.

Awesome space exploration game with interesting lore. Go into it as blind as possible.

It really captures the spirit of space exploration just as much as it captures the physics of it.

Definitely play this if you have any friends left after Pico Park 1

Spent only 2 hours playing, the rest was idling in a rogue fusion battle listening to Like Chimeras for 27 hours straight.

An excellent monster collector-genre game with a lot of heart, amazing soundtrack, and interesting battle mechanics.

Not a masterpiece, but there's some good ideas here that could be great, like the cards system, but as implemented it mostly just comes off as clunky and annoying to manage.

Performance and gunplay/controls are great.

Biggest letdowns are with the special-infected and characters. Basically all of the special mobs look like the same blobs and don't have any unique traits like L4D. Also zombie animation/sound is really lacking, just really generic all around and bad effects versus L4D's dismemberment.

This is certainly not L4D 3, and I think the whole "same studio as L4D" marketing is complete BS since it's not even the same developers, but it's a good game in its own right (as long as you get it on deep discount/sale).

Ultimately, fun but forgettable.

Recommended on sale for $10-15 or less.
There's a great game here if they add some more/varied content.

The bones of the gameplay loop, the 'modifiers', the classes, the boss fights, all great, there's just barely any of it.
Not enough RNG for a full roguelike experience since there's only the 3 bosses to beat and that's the end.

I would love this with more content and/or even some kind of campaign mode, the controls and gameplay are really smooth and satisfying.
