my wifey bought the game for us to play together

• in the middle of the tutorial, i wanted to invite her to multiplayer. the game couldnt log into my microsoft account and gave me an error, where i could not click on OK to get rid of it = alt+f4, restart
• had to replay tutorial
• once gone through the tutorial, i tried to invite my wifey again. same problem
• had to replay the tutorial *again*, as this game still did not save my progress for whatever reason. although saving symbol appeared several times in top right corner
• we stopped playing and wanted to continue next day
• my microsoft account got locked. allegedly because of breaking their terms (i never do anything with that account except playing games where really necessary)
• they force me to add a phone number to my account to unlock it again
• they do not send the required sms code to a one-time number from internet. they say they did, but never arrives (i tried several numbers from different services) and i sure wont give them my own number
• sigh
• off game i created a new account and tried to link that to the game
• back into the game, the microsoft login window (browser emulator within the game lol) it did f♥ not accept me wanting to use another account. it tried to auto-log into my initial account (which was still locked) and the "log into another account" button did not work, no matter what i tried.
• i now gave a f♥ of this game and imagined to burn down microsoft guys, uninstalled the game and wait for refund

summary:
the game requires you to use a microsoft/xbox live account to play online/multiplayer. if you are having trouble with that in general, do not buy this game
i actually did not play state of decay 2, but the log into your microsoft account game
so... f♥♥♥ you microsoft

It's almost 2 years ago now, when the last patch was published.

I just wanted to try out the game again with a friend and started to launch the ded server. Once all set up and launched and weirdly connected (we had to connect via launch parameters because it did not list in the server browser and you simply cannot manually add a server ip - wtf?), the client/server connection flooded my router with errors until its buffer ran out of ram and restarted. All within 2 minutes!

This game wasn't much great back in time. Now seems it's even less.

Very poor til (almost) non-existent documentations for server owners
You cannot turn off EAC
Last patch: Feb. 2021 - so it is dead
Your dedicated server is not listed in the server browser

From my point of view, just leave the game...

Really nice game one should have played for at least once, as long as you like Story Rich games.
You should have completed "Life is Strange" main game before, to understand the lil' gimmicks/hints and easter eggs

10/10 from my side!
