Not quite what i hoped it would be but still, entirely satisfactory. . .
Pros:
- new gore system which definitely is detailed and amusing, now even has option of nvidia flex for better blood particles

- new perks, more smoothened out leveling curve and there's skills for every 5th perk level reached like larger mag etcetc...all in all class-based gameplay has been nicely expanded on

- soundtrack, as usual it's mostly industrial metal during waves and good ole ambient at downtime...there's now even some songs specially composed for the game!

- good amount and variety of maps

- a whopping total of 5 different bosses!

- graphics aren't all that bad for a rather old game engine

Now the ugly:
- annoying server browser, it won't for me at least as of recent, show servers that should be there, 'no modded servers' filter doesn't do anything also since day 1

- crashes to desktop and freezes without warning are a bit too common

- edars are kinda awful, as are raged fleshpound spawns

8.5/10

Fantastic remake, thoroughly enjoyed from start to the end

-excellent atmosphere

-smoother controls, really plays like an fps now

-addition of vending machines from where you can buy weapon upgrades, ammo or medical supplies by using the originally useless vaporize function to make recyclable scrap from junk items, then recycling it at stations for credits

-graphics and art direction..with former, post processing is somewhat overdone at times, but latter? Oh hell yes the cassette futurism look is still here and improved no less

-weapons that were previously either to be used sparingly until last few levels or were just too crap are now no longer so

-game is very small, not many gb

-there's a demo available for those skeptical of the game

-power panel puzzles are more varied now

The bad:

-ending is somewhat lackluster really

A real good continuation of InSourcency

-fire support is a thing now, really adds some more tactical elements

-graphics are pretty nice

-more ordnance and there's less restriction overall on accessories, allowing that much more various builds of a soldier

-gunplay is quite simply amazing, great sounds+animations and sensation of recoil

-character outfit customization, get drippin or ghillie suitin' boi!

My main complaint i guess is map design that seems to revolve around the addition of trucks, many of maps feel a bit too open and catering to snipers. . .other than that, lovin it

Uncover a conspiracy and while doing so, hack doors/robots/turrets, shoot enemi or go stealth, upgrade one's cybernetics, simple as. . .

- there's some pretty annoying stuttering often, but generally framerate otherwise is silky smooth

-story is good but the ending somehow felt random as hell to me, other than that i did like the game quite a bit, good atmosphere and the persuasion minigames are neat

A+ from me, well polished overall, though they should have updated the old textures, sounds and models a bit.....

-from very beginning one can start exploring at their leisure much nicer than in soc or cs
-combat is smoother thanks to new mechanics
-obtaining artifacts is much better than in soc although it is more or less the same as clear sky, with more special anomalies to hunt from however

This game's a pos and i hate it, that of course is why i have over 150 hours in it. . .it's a reskinned ufo defense more or less, like an expansion pack sequel

-nerfing of weapons is really something else like i have never seen before
-can get softlocked way late in the game thanks to research tree bugs
-maps often feel like a drag, especially the infamous alien colony assaults, each of them feels like storming an hq

But hey, there is the cool aquatic premise with lovecraftian overtones and all, i'll recommend the game anyway. . .
If you play with openxcom source port, might be better to try a rebalancing mod from the get go, such as reaver's rebalance

nothing innovative, but just a really honed and polished game

-proper vicious-feeling combat, whether on foot or vehicular. . .
-graphics are still pretty damn acceptable and game demands really little of your computer to run smooth
-excellent atmosphere
-quite simply some of the gnarliest automotive sound design, a+
-a good amount of side activities to do

its a solid game, good ole hard unhinged violence against demons, with satisfying gunplay, weapon upgrading and character ability expansion for a light rpg touch. . .graphics are still excellent and game runs like a dream, top-notch optimization

Awesome game, strategy games overall aren't in my interest really, but this one is a+

- groovy soundtrack in the geoscape and the battlescape theme really represents the anxiety of combat against aliens

- gameplay which is hard but not that unfair, really requires you to think ahead and be a combat pragmatist, you can really choose your own tactics. . .night missions are peak thriller material
There's a good variety of missions too, crash site UFO recoveries, landing site sweeps, city terror defense, xcom base defense, alien base assault

- art, has a certain comic book aesthetic which is real nice

Complaints? Not much of story though there is some lore, interface is a bit jank, there's very little of tutorials though it's not so just because, iirc it is due to hardware limitations in early 90s

best timewaster, ultimate mindless entertainment!!!!
to be real i bought this because it has tracker music soundtrack, i could just listen to it outside the game but that just wouldn't hit the same
