Rain World is frustratingly difficult to describe despite being my second favorite game of all time. It's also not an easy recommendation. This game makes a lot of very polarizing decisions (no player-centered camera, no spawn protection, VERY little instruction) all in the name of a bold top-down decision to make a game about an ecosystem that you are only a small part of. This is frustrating to reconcile as a player as it means you are constantly battling downright unfair situations. But for those looking to uncover some fantastic environmental storytelling, it might be worth the struggle after all.

Equal parts Earthbound, bullet hell, and circlejerk, Undertale is one of a rare breed of throwback indie games that do not dissapoint.

Earthbound: The pixelated overworld alternated with turn-based combat is obviously attempting to emulate the classic RPG game, even down to sampling the same songs as its themes.
Bullet hell: Instead of sitting there and taking it like a man, Undertale's turn-based combat allows you to defend yourself by dodging various danmaku patterns. None are too hard, but there's enough variety to keep it interesting.
Circlejerk: In the age of rampant fandom-ism, Undertale's dialogue succumbs to trends. It's got the repeated injokes that charm you at best and sicken you at worst. Tropes like dogs, skeletons, and spaghetti rear their heads frequently, but my inner cynic was offended rarely. For the most part, I enjoyed the dialogue, and I definitely enjoyed the story.

More on the story: Undertale is a game that is aware of the existence of the Internet as a guide for video games. Play it "dry" once, but then try to use guides to get the multitude of alternate endings and easter eggs this game hides.

I think what I like most about Undertale is that it accomplishes something that is so difficult: it sets itself up to be "yet another indie game" trying to be original in a genre where the most popular thing to do is copy games released 20 years ago, but Undertale has its own charm. It feels more like a successor than a rip-off to me.

Goat Simulator is not a serious game, so it should not be taken seriously.
However, if you can look beyond the game's obnoxious viral popularity, it'll provide you a good laugh. For an hour or two. Don't expect to be playing this game every day. You'll explode the gas station, giggle, then put it down forever.

If you're like me, you'll giggle a lot, though. If stupid ♥♥♥♥/ragdoll physics make you laugh, you will laugh at this game. There's not a whole lot of "forced humor," like what you would find in Borderlands 2. Most of the stuff that makes me laugh is some sort of physics bug. So if you're into that, pick up this game.

The gameplay itself is surprisingly good, albeit simple. It is akin to an large-map skating game (Tony Hawk, etc), but more focus on destroying things than doing tricks. There are tricks to be done but most are difficult to execute/not worth executing because of low point values. It's pretty smooth and doesn't get in the way of the core ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-around that the game is all about.

The best part of GS however is the developers. After releasing a free patch that essentially doubled the content of the game. If the trend continues, we could expect online multiplayer sometime in the future, along with scores of new maps. Exciting!

Bottom line: get this game if the trailer makes you smile. If it doesn't: don't.

There is a large demographic split in those who play TF2: The pre-f2p and the f2p. The pre-f2p, for the most part, have issues about the game's current direction and sentiments that "TF2 ain't what it used to be." The f2p, on the other hand, enjoy the game's continuous free updates that bring not only cosmetic content, but new maps and weapons, most of which are designed by the community itself.

Most, if not all, people reading this review have at least some time clocked in this game. You already know what you think of it. What I think of it: the classes are nicely balanced, it is constantly updated, and sometimes having pay-to-unlock crap (crates) shoved in my face gets annoying. Sometimes playing with 12-year-olds and bronies gets annoying. But at its core, it is an FPS that runs on the Source engine, and that's all that really matters. Sure, I could play CS:GO instead, but TF2 is less competitive and more silly! And I like that!

So, my advice to those of you that know this game is: don't take it seriously. Don't hate the community, even if they are all retarded. Just take out your stickybomb launcher and have some FUN.

Risk of Rain. A game that prides itself on being insanely difficult. Right off the bat, a red flag. But! RoR is easy to pick up, with a small set of skills that must be executed flawlessly in order to beat the game (unless you are playing Huntress. Huntress OP).

The game's selling points are perma-death (new term for "arcade") and its rougelike elements. Drops and enemies are randomized, while the ten possible maps are stitched together out of pre-determined chunks. It has a degree of arbitration while retaining familiarity to those who repeatedly play the game. A nice balance.

The game is one of the best examples of modern pixel art that I can think of on the top of my head. It's really pretty. The movement is also very polished, with no little kinks as to how you are supposed to execute attacks--the ones you would find in games like CS:GO and Dark Souls.

What's better yet is the game has multiplayer! PvE. But, this is where the shortcomings of the game begin. Multiple players are forced to fight over a fixed amount of item drops, which either requires a lot of teamwork, or having one person be the ♥♥♥♥♥ of the team who is insta-gibbed at the beginning of each stage because his teammates stole all the upgrades. While this allows for some strategy, a necessary part of good multiplayer, the scaling is just too unforgiving. Multiplayer makes the hardest difficulty look like child's play.

The class balance is also a little wonky. Some classes are very easy to pick up (Huntress, Soldier, HAN-D), while others require ludicrous amounts of skill. Making some classes more difficult while others less so would make the game much better to play.

Bottom line: If you are looking for an easy-to-play, hard-to-master game with decent multiplayer capability, get this game.
