The artwork works much better in motion than it does in still shots, and the writing and humor of the game are just as good as the early ones (which makes sense, since it's the same folks who wrote this one). It's a very welcome addition to the Monkey Island series.

The original Stanley Parable was one of my favorite games when it came out, and this is a very worthy remake/extension of the original. I'm really happy that it runs on more platforms, and I'm really enjoying how well they worked in the new content with what was originally there.

A great introduction to how tough this thing can be to stop without the right tools.

I want to like it. It has fantastic atmosphere, and the mechanics seem like they could be fun. But it's just way too luck-based. There's strategy, yes, and that does get you a bit further, but there's only so much you can do when you keep getting cards you can't use until you're so far behind you can't really catch up. And that's before even talking about how buggy it is. I've rarely been able to play for more than 15 minutes or so without it either locking up or just outright crashing. I'm currently at a point where I don't even know if I can continue, because it freezes when loading my save. I've managed to get past that once in a dozen attempts to load, only for it to lock up immediately as soon as I entered a card match.

This game could really benefit from a puzzle mode, similar to the puzzle boxes, where everything is in a fixed sequence, so figuring out the right order and the right moves would be how to approach it, as opposed to continuing to die (and create worthless death cards that further clog up what you get) and restart in the hopes of maybe getting something better.

Deck builders are a tricky thing to get right, and Inscryption falls more on the "frustrating" side than the "fun" side.

I'm mostly enjoying this because I liked the 7th Guest and the 11th Hour. As a game on its own, though, it's pretty rough. The acting is pretty stilted and the writing is mediocre, with gigantic plot dumps (the character who told me about the doll gave me a whole expose on it). One of the big strengths of the original was their "show, don't tell" storytelling, which this game completely fails at. The puzzles are mostly OK, though some are unclear (even some I've solved, I have no idea what the rules were), and some are very buggy.

I am very much enjoying roaming around Stauf's mansion again, but that's more in spite of the gameplay than because of it. Unless somebody is a die-hard T7G or 11H fan, I'd have a very hard time recommending this game.

Pony Island is a cute, fun game which is absolutely what it says on the tin and nothing else.
