I absolutely hate the state of gaming. We're living in a time where scrappy, unfinished remakes and unoriginal boring Battle Royale and MOBA games dominate every headline and gaming space. Whenever you ask someone "what's your favorite game your playing right now", you can bet out of about 5 games you'll guess what their answer is. Even though these games are predatory low-effort cash grabs that feed off of your addiction, people will still only hear and talk about them. Then there's Sayonara Wild Hearts. This game - an unbelievable masterpiece - sits buried under endless talk of new DLCs for Fortnite. In the current gaming climate, I'd liken this to having watched nothing but mid-level-acting TV shows and then suddenly watching a well-made feature film. This game is truly ahead of it's time, it's hard to even describe what type of game it is, and it's sad that it isn't blowing up as much as it should. If it weren't for some british twitch moderator I would have never even heard of it. Every aspect of this game has been thought out and designed with a consistent and vibrant design language that makes you feel connected to the core of the game despite the wide variety of gameplay styles you are presented with. This is one of the few games I'm able to play and feel like I am experiencing art, not bingey, trashy, addiction-fueling garbage that I am guiltily consuming, but art. For only $13 dollars at the time of writing, you should buy one copy for yourself and two for your friends, it's that worth it.

Stupid barbarians killed my great scientist. How come they kill them instead of capturing them like they do settlers? Legit the first game that I have ever ragequitted. Absolutely terrible. 0/10.

Rating: Papyrus out of 10

Toby Fox, I tip my non-existant fedora your way. When I was first introduced to this game when it was released, I saw it and thought, "This game looks like a really fun RPG". As I played through the game, this was confirmed. However, unlike other RPGs I had played, this one went above and beyond. Undertale goes from a standard earthbound-esque RPG to a strange and very confusing ending(For those of you that have completed the game, I am referring to BOTH the neutral and the pacifist endings). Yes, you can choose not to kill anyone. If you do this, you will get the netural ending. If you choose to become friends with everyone in the underground, you will get the pacifist ending. When I got the neutral ending on my first play, I had about 5 hours in the game. I went back and discovered TWO HOURS of unexplored content. I thought I had seen it all. I still haven't done a genocide run, and I'm very reluctant to do so(I could never kill Papyrus or anyone for that matter). There may be only three different endings, but there are so many small tweaks you can do to adjust small aspects of the ending. The ending will make you feel a swarm of emotions more powerful than your first kiss, or beating the original Legend of Zelda after hours and hours of trying(as was the case for me). If you are unable to experience emotional connection to the characters in the game(YOU HEARTLESS BASTARD!), your experience will be entirely different, but then again, you probably shouldn't be playing a game based on classic RPGs. Next: Is Undertale worth 10 bucks? Short answer: yes. Long answer: have you ever gone to a fine restaurant and after eating said "that was worth it"? Well, a good restaurant will cost you up to hundreds of dollars, and you only experience it for about an hour or even less. Undertale has hours upon hours of content. You'll be wanting to play it again to see what the other endings look like. If you're looking for inspiration, this game is the one for you.

As for art, music, and gameplay, I have to say, they chose a simple interface, but they did it right. The music loosely follows a chiptune style, occasionally throwing in some MIDI instruments here and there. The art is simple in some areas, and complex in others. The player sprite reminds me of early SNES games, and the backgrounds remind me of Shovel Knight(which means that they were pretty friggin detailed). The battles play fantastically. Even small sound effects and color choices on the battle HUD stick out and make the fight more fluid. The choice of minimalistic sprites and animations doesnt take away from the game, and allows the player to focus more on plot and makes characters more memorable, because of their easy to recognize patterns.

All in all(tl;dr), I consider Undertale to be the best PC game of 2015. If you were waiting for good games this year, now is the time to buy in on one of the best games you will ever play, I guarantee it.

If only the english language had enough words to describe how amazing this game is.

I've played many games that have been considered by most to be the best of the best, and this is one of them that I can say deserves an 11/10. From its incredibly gorgeous graphics, to its responsive and extremely fun gameplay, once you start playing, you won't want to stop. The story of Ori and the Blind Forest is an astounding and emotional experience, that had me tearing up at times from the connection I had with the characters. The amazing art meshes perfectly with the gameplay, with smooth, fluid animations that make you feel like you're playing the concept art. If you're going to be playing this game, I highly suggest turning up the graphics all the way, and making sure you have an amazing display to view the game in its full beauty. As the game progresses in difficulty, you'll start dying more often. When you die, you go back to your last checkpoint, but you can use energy to create a Soul Link, which acts as a checkpoint. You can't make one anywhere, however, so this system cannot be abused to the point of making the game boring. On the topic of boring, I never once became bored with this game. It kept me in until I had to quit out of the session. Even then, I would close my eyes and see the spike plants. The next thing that this game KICKS ASS with is the soundtrack. It fits the story and the atmosphere perfectly, and combined with amazing sound effects, you'll want to buy a copy of the soundtrack just to listen to on your own time.

Overall, Ori and the Bline Forest is already on my list of "Best Games Ever Made", and I highly recommend you purchase and play this.

The only class-based first person shooter that has stood the test of time. This game is a true classic, and is an absolute blast. Most of my childhood was spent playing this game, and I am oh so happy that I can come right back into it and it still offers the same levels of fun that I experienced in my childhood.
