Let me get this straight - I love this game. It is almost certainly the greatest Harry Potter game ever created, and I really do wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone interested in trying, or are already interested in the Wizarding World universe.

However, despite recommending it, I'm also giving it a negative recommendation (ironic, I know). However, this is for good reason. This game takes a lot of inspiration (in my opinion) from the Witcher 3, from the quest structure, quest log, repetitive places of interest, and even the absence of many choices. My main critique of this game was that this game was marketed as having choices that would directly affect the future of Hogwarts - this couldn't be further from the truth. This game is so incredibly linear in terms of storytelling, and the few times the game seems like it's giving you a choice to be somewhat evil, it still winds up being lighthearted. There is no player freedom. It looks like you can say something mean to someone, you choose that option, and then you end up saying something nice anyway. It makes no sense.

Another concern, and the final nail in the coffin that made me so angry with this game (despite how much I love it) is that your house really does NOT matter. Regardless of the house that you choose, you still end up on the same missions with the same people, and there are no students in your common room that you can befriend. In fact, your common room is useless beyond the first few quests. Essentially, choosing your house is just choosing your favourite colour.

Expanding on the previous point of your house not mattering, my character was sorted into Slytherin, and I wanted to roleplay as a typical, snarky Slytherin student. Instead, regardless of the character you make, they will talk as though they're a shy 12 year old who kisses the feet of everyone asking for help. This game does not deserve the RPG tag, and I'm disappointed in the developers for marketing the game as a "choices matter" video game - it doesn't. The dialogue options should have been cut, because it doesn't change anything.

I do really enjoy this game, I do recommend it, and I will complete it, but I have to leave this here as a warning to all players that the game is not what it was marketed to be. It is still quite enjoyable, but it's not what was promised.
