I did 100% again, with 31/32 achievements on Expert difficulty. I completed the last achievement (which was one of the two endings) on New Game+, because while the game was good, it was not good enough to go through another 15-20 hours for just one achievement.

All in all FMF2 (and FMF1) is top of the line when it comes to new boomer shooters. Cool visual style, decently interesting story and decent gameplay. Highly recommend for a casual boomer shooter experience.

Gameplay is alright and feels satisfying for the most part. Its biggest flaw is the slow movement speed, which when combined with the high enemy damage on the Expert difficulty, favors playing safely (save scumming, going slow, picking tanky perks). The Dark Tome is a nice upgrade from FMF1 in terms of reducing the number of skill binds (not a fan of having too many binds in FPS games). It gives a bit more freedom in playstyle by letting you select a combination of perks. The perk descriptions are devoid of any numbers, which kinda sucks for figuring out what you actually want to go with. I think faster movement speed would've made aggressive playstyle more viable and increased my enjoyment of the game by a lot.

The boss fights, like in FMF1, are trash. They're essentially 3D bullet hells damage races, each is either lackluster or annoying. The attacks range from hard to dodge to impossible (due to your previous movement/momentum and the randomness being unfavorable). So far the only good boss fight in the game series was the one I mentioned in my FMF1 review (that boss was called "Glitch" iirc).

Hunting for secrets and the clocks wasn't too bad. I did one blind attempt per each level (occasionally looking up what I should find in total), then got the missing secrets and clocks with the help of a guide. The game doesn't let you see how many each level contains until you finish it (should be a cardinal sin for a boomer shooter), and quite often blocks you from backtracking.

Music is good with some near memorable bangers, but the Asylum song (which you'll hear quite a bit) is mid and quite earwormy. Luckily the Asylum has a gramophone you can activate, which plays FMF1 music unless I'm mistaken.

Clipping of the levels ("invisible walls") is quite bad. Accessible areas/avoidable barriers are just blocked off, and yet sometimes climbing out of bounds is almost trivial. Occasionally it lets you sequence break, which is cool (if it doesn't softlock you from progressing). Sometimes a slope or even a floor will slide you off, other times you can climb them up just fine.

There's a performance issue with no simple fix, causing stutter and significant FPS drops in some areas. It was relatively rare for me though.

All in all it's a decent source port. I 100%'d the achievements, replayed each of the official DOOM/DOOM II expansions (SIGIL II is not in it for some reason) and played the new DOOM II expansion "Legacy of Rust".

My main gripes with the source port are mouse sensitivity being tied to FPS and what feels like inconsistencies in movement (bouncing backwards when hitting walls and wallstrafing occasionally going mad fast, although I might be forgetting these happening in other source ports). Replacing the Nazi imagery in the Wolfenstein secret level and changing the health crosses to green colors seem like pointless changes, but don't really bother me.

Speaking of Legacy of Rust. New weapons are boring and make me miss plasma and BFG. As for the new enemies: Mindweavers, Shocktroopers and Tyrants are alright, but the rest are meh. Level design is visually very impressive, the music is hit and miss, gimmicks (such as in the secret level Panopticon) are sometimes pretty fun, "puzzles" are alright, but overall I just wanted to get it over with and don't think I'll be replaying it again.

Didn't try multiplayer or custom WADs so I can't say much about them. I'd expect co-op to be less of a hassle than other source ports. Custom WADs are curated and I've heard the system has other issues as well (people mistakenly uploading WADs in order to play them, Thatcher's Techbase banned).

I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to replay the classic WADs in a modern source port without much hassle in the setup. If you're looking to play custom WADs however, personally I'd pick another source port.

I only play Warzone so my review is only based on that. The game is a pay2win dystopian capitalist hell simulator. After you launch the game, you have to click through 5 popup menus asking you to buy some ♥♥♥♥. Most of the "meta" loadout ♥♥♥♥ is locked behind massive grind or paywall. Crossplay heavily favors controller players. Randomly taking out Resurgence Duos without explanation is a deal breaker since it's my favorite mode. Performance is bad. Gameplay itself is good though.

Overall just too many negatives outweigh the positives.

Always loved CS (1.5/1.6 goated, Source is kinda mid imo).

Early CS:GO was trash but it got very good later on. CS2 is decent and hopefully all the annoying issues will be fixed in due time. Great fun with friends and high skill ceiling if you wanna balls deep tryhard.

Main gripes are the performance issues (huge variance in frame times/fps in some situations) and the jankiness when changing video options.

Oh yeah I almost forgot: Premier is filled with cheaters so better play FACEIT if that bothers you.

Good game. Love the skill point system. Cool story.

Boss fights sucked except for World 4 (Glitch).

2 playthroughs with each character on Expert (Journalist > Priest).

100%ing the achievements works with New Game+ and Level Selection which is nice.

Keen for FMF2.

It's ok. Some of the games can softlock which is annoying.

Early Access Review
Doom Eternal on crack.
(Ever since the dreaded Whiplash update I feel like I'm a bit forced to play for Style, which I had previously disabled on the HUD for better immersion. I generally prefer when players are given freedom to execute their own (play)style - tying the game's mechanics to Style kind of arbitrarily constricts that IMO. But whatever the game is goated and I've adapted.)

This is what boomer shooters should strive to be like. The way I usually describe this game is: "what a single player arena shooter would be like". It's like playing Quake 3 but the arenas are filled with monsters instead of bots. Yes, there's classic Bethesda clumsiness, but the overall combat loop is very satisfying and provides a variety of viable playstyles. Graphics are nice to the point where I started playing without the HUD (just the dot crosshair) to have better immersion (the HUD isn't necessary either since all the things you need to know have distinct sound cues). It's at the same time challenging and makes you feel powerful which is perfect for DOOM.
I have 320 hours as of writing this review. I did like 7 Ultra Nightmare 100% completions just for fun + the DLCs + some of the master levels. Been over a year since I've played it but some day I'll probably get back to it again.
